Tom Cruise, Who? As Katie Holmes Gives Suri Cruise This Priceless Gift

This week, a series of photos of Katie Holmes and her daughter, Suri Cruise, surfaced.

The mother-daughter duo were seen hand-in-hand and flashing identical smiles as they walked happily in the busy streets of New York. At 17, Suri Cruise nearly towers over mom, Katie Holmes.

The Dawson’s Creek actress, 45, went for a chic but casual look composed of a denim jacket, a bright red sweater, and black pants. She finished the look with a pair of white sneakers.

As for the teenager, she opted for a pair of boot-cut jeans, brown cowboy boots, and a Western-style coat. The photos of the happy and carefree pair reminded the world of the sacrifice that Holmes made to give her daughter normalcy away from Cruise, the Church of Scientology, and the media circus.

It is very well known that thanks to her “overprotective” mother, Katie Holmes, Suri Cruise did not grow up a Scientologist like her father, Tom Cruise, would have liked her to.

Instead, she received the priceless gift of a relatively normal childhood, and teenhood, and despite her parents both being megastars, she was away from the limelight.

After the divorce from Tom Cruise, in 2012, the “Miss Meadows” actress gained full custody of their only child, largely due to the fact Tom Cruise’s heavy ties to Scientology were seeping into their personal lives.

The Mission: Impossible actor is and was very much fond of the religion, and the religion is very much fond of him, thus why he became their “poster boy.”

In 2017, Tom Cruise told Playboy magazine: “What I believe in my own life is that it’s a search for how I can do things better, whether it’s being a better man or a better father or finding ways for myself to improve. Individuals have to decide what is true and real for them.”

At some point during the It-couple’s marriage, the Sea Org, cruised into Cruise and Holmes’ house to inspect and make sure that their poster boy was being treated well.

In 2016, the now-deceased Ron Miscavige, the father of the current and second Scientology leader, David Miscavige, left the religion.

He also chimed in on the superstars’ relationship:”That didn’t sit so well with Katie, of course, and it hurt the marriage. She and Tom had big differences about the way life should be lived.”

Ron Miscavige told DailyMail.com, that Scientology had a “toxic” culture and strong belief in abandoning and severing ties with non-believing family, friends, or any other companions, spouses and kids included.

Ron Miscavige would have likely known this better than anyone because he was a top member of the Los Angeles-based church, and he had lost both his son David, and two daughters, Denise and Lori, to the controversial theology.

For these reasons and probably many more, the church had become a pain in Katie Holmes’s side. It is hard to be married to the poster boy of a religion that you are not fond of.

It is alleged that although the actor pays up to $400,000 in the form of child support to Holmes for Suri, he plays no role in his only biological child’s life.

Some claim that Katie Holmes may have sacrificed her “happy” marriage to Tom Cruise for the safety and well-being of her daughter.

By divorcing Tom Cruise she lost both him and the church. However, in doing so she also saved her daughter from the trauma and drama of being a Scientologist, not to mention the spotlight would have been on her.

She gave her the gift of a normal childhood and life, at a great cost.
