Many wondered why Prince Harry did not run over and see his sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, when he briefly traveled to England to see his father, King Charles III, who is battling cancer.
The question has been answered, and the response is rather heartbreaking and ugly. According to PEOPLE Magazine, which spoke to reliable royal sources, before leaving California, Prince Harry did reach out to Prince William and Kate Middleton and made his intentions clear.
The Duke of Sussex was interested in seeing the mother of three, who is currently recovering from abdominal surgery, at Adelaide Cottage. The door was slammed shut at Prince Harry’s request.
Sources shared that Prince William has no trust in his brother and his sister-in-law, Meghan Markle, who are willing to sell any and every secret about the Royal Family to the highest bidder, especially after the release of Spare and rumors of Markle’s upcoming memoir.
The talkative husband-and-wife duo has humiliated the British royals via interviews, a Netflix series, and the coup de grâce that came with the bombshell book Spare.
Prince William has not been able to forget that the pair made him look like an abuser, a calculated heir who is trapped in the Palace walls.
They pushed the image of Kate Middleton as a racist and aloof royal who cares about appearance. Prince William painted the portrait for his brother when he reached out — he will not forgive him, not now, not ever.
A Palace source told PEOPLE: “Prince Harry has made no secret of his desire for reconciliation and is thought to have reached out to Prince William, but there were no plans to meet.”
A former courtier suggested: “The Prince of Wales’s principal concern is his wife, Kate Middleton, amid her recovery from abdominal surgery, yet Harry spent just 24 hours in his home country to briefly see his father without a visit with his brother’s family.”
Another source close to the royal household revealed that it was supposed to be a moment that reunited the family, but that did not happen.
The insider stated: “It would be the normal run of things to go and see your sister-in-law, who’s had a serious operation, and also see your niece and nephews. But it isn’t normal. It’s terribly sad.”
Catherine Mayer, author of the biography Charles: The Heart of a King, added that the situation is dire.
She stated: “The family torment is an open sore. There is such a profound breach there.” According to royal author Robert Lacey, Prince William has another reason to avoid his brother — one of his top priorities is to protect the monarchy that he will inherit one day.
The author shared: “This is all to do with William’s wish to protect the institution of the monarchy, which he feels Harry can’t be trusted with. I don’t think William will ever agree to the readmission of Harry into the family unless he clearly apologizes and moves forward.”
Prince Harry is still a major problem for the Royal Family.
