It was believed that Kate Middleton‘s devastating announcement that she is battling cancer would create the impossible: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle would reunite with the Royal Family.
However, because the situation between the brothers is so complicated and dire — that has yet to happen. Some royal watchers pushed it further by saying the reconciliation might never happen.
One of the reasons why is simply that Prince Harry has refused to send a long-awaited text message to his brother and sister-in-law.
According to The Mirror, Prince Harry did send Prince William a text message to share his well-wishes with Kate Middleton. Prince William was stunned and lost for words.
The father of three and heir to the throne has no plans to start a conversation with his brother because it has been years, he has been patiently waiting for only one message from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Prince William wants Prince Harry to know that he wants an apology text — a short text message that reads, “I’m sorry.” Prince William believes Prince Harry needs to apologize for the hurt, pain, and public humiliation that he and Markle caused him and Middleton with their bombshell interviews and revelations in the Netflix series and memoir Spare.
Royal expert Sarah-Louise Robertson appeared on GB News to say that if Prince Harry was willing to show empathy and apologize for his ways, the path to a reunion would open up.
The royal commentator claimed: “Harry reached out to his brother last night. There have been some text messages, and some exchanges, and the fact that this has happened shows that there could now be maybe a thawing and a bit of an olive branch between the two families.”
She went on to reveal how Prince Harry could change it all for the better: “And I think, wouldn’t it be lovely if Harry could just make that apology? This is the time when you have to put all that bad blood behind you and come together as a family. Catherine‘s diagnosis has put everything into perspective; the silly things that they were feuding about, it seems so futile.”
The Daily Mail columnist and royal commentator Richard Eden confirmed that a remorseful message from Prince Harry would renew the relationship.
The author makes it clear that until Prince Harry understands the error of his ways, shows sincerity and sympathy, and asks for forgiveness, he will not be welcomed back into Prince William’s life.
He said: “Since Kate disclosed her cancer diagnosis, there have been numerous suggestions that she and William should end their rift with Harry and Meghan. Yet, before that can happen, the Sussexes must acknowledge the hurt they have caused and the damage done. They should then apologize and beg forgiveness from Catherine and her husband, who deserve nothing less. How cheering if, during Easter – a time of renewal – they could begin the renewal of their relationship with the Royal Family.”
There is a huge problem: Prince Harry deems that he is the one who is owed an apology. He lists a long list of reasons why Prince William needs to apologize in his bestseller, Spare.
He claimed that the heir assaulted him, treated him unkindly throughout their childhood and disrespected his wife. Furthermore, he also explained that Middleton, who made Markle cry over bridesmaids’ dresses, should have come clean.
Author Tom Quinn told The Mirror: “He [Prince Harry] wants to reconcile with his brother so that the children can have some kind of a relationship, but he and Meghan still think that a groveling apology needs to come from William and Kate first.”
The two sides are very far from peace.
