Kate Middleton was busy making plans with her husband, Prince William, when she was struck by some devastating news.
Princess Kate shared earlier this year that she underwent surgery, and a few weeks later she was diagnosed with cancer. It has been revealed that Middleton and her husband were quietly working on some happy plans.
The duo was renovating a much bigger home on the Windsor property and would eventually move there with their three children — Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
According to The Mirror, Prince William and Kate Middleton “are reportedly hatching surprise plans” to renovate and transform a secret home into something of “a sanctuary as part of the Princess’s recovery process.”
The Prince and Princess of Wales are working on upgrading an overlooked redbrick annex adjacent to their Adelaide Cottage residence in Windsor.
Kate Middleton needs a bigger home because she is being cared for by nurses and often has her mother, Carole Middleton, over to help out with the children.
A source revealed to OK!: “They [William and Kate] adore Adelaide Cottage, but it just about fits the entire family, whereas Anmer Hall is much larger with extensive grounds. Adelaide Cottage is being used as a term-time property while the children are at school nearby, and Anmer Hall is for long weekends and holidays.”
The annex building is uninhabitable and in need of a great deal of renovation. The royal couple is having an ongoing conversation about how to move forward with their secret plan.
An insider claimed: “Nobody knows that there is quite a spacious red-brick annex building that’s not being used next door to Adelaide Cottage. It’s currently inhabitable and needs extensive renovation work if it were to be used. Discussions have been ongoing for a while about using the property as part of the overall cottage grounds, but it’s just about finding the right time to kick the project off.”
Aware of the public scrutiny that comes with spending taxpayers’s money, Prince William and his wife are taking it slow on the joyous plans for their family and are looking for ways to handle the cost.
The person in the know said: “William is very conscious of the public’s scrutiny over the Royal Family’s spending habits, so he is looking at the best way to cover any renovation costs. It’s a project that’s very much been put on the back burner for now due to the family’s unfortunate position, but it will be looked at again when the time is right.”
Observers say the couple is focusing on the things that work for them.
