This week, actress and comedian Melissa McCarthy bravely showed support for the former actress-turned-duchess. The former Mike & Molly star revealed that the people criticizing might feel threatened.
She went on to say that she views Markle’s success as inspiring and not all intimidating. Speaking at the opening of Broadway’s Suffs premiere, McCarthy showed admiration for Markle by saying that she is “wonderful” and “awesome.”
The filmmaker had the following to say about The Duchess of Sussex: “A smart, interesting woman that has her own life, for some reason, is incredibly threatening to some people.”
The Little Mermaid actress went on to say: “I always think, how inspiring! I’ve never once been threatened by someone who is amazing. I just think how inspiring. It’s really on the people throwing the hate.”
Melissa McCarthy’s friendship with Prince Harry and Markle was made public in 2021 when she took part in The Duchess‘s 40×40 birthday initiative.
She appeared in a video where she was chatting with Markle and Prince Harry made the surprising appearance through a window juggling.
While the pair was mocked for the video, in an interview in England, McCarthy said The Duke and Duchess of Sussex had the cutest dynamic and added: “I just thought it was so sweet and genuine, and it was actually Harry’s idea to make a cameo in his wife’s birthday clip.”
She went on to say: “I was like, ‘Are you weird and funny to boot?’ At that point, I was like, ‘That’s great!’ … I love anyone that will do something weird just for weird’s sake, so I was like, ‘I tip my hat!'”
The Sussexes will debut many new projects later this year.
