Not much is known about Tom Cruise‘s daughter, Suri Cruise, but it has been hinted that one thing that is certain about the young woman is that she has no plans to follow in his footsteps.

The only child of actress Katie Holmes recently celebrated her 18th birthday without any fanfare. Suri Cruise was spotted in the streets of New York on her special day, strolling with a pal.

The teenager was casually dressed and flashed a big smile as she carried a gift bag. This considerable milestone prompted many who had ties to the controversial church to weigh in on the nonexistent relationship between the father and daughter.

It has been confirmed that Suri Cruise has not been in contact with her megastar father since her parents divorced in 2012. Tom Cruise split from his wife and child because of his religious beliefs. Holmes decided to flee to New York to protect her child from the religion.

According to former Scientologist turned whistleblower Leah Remini, Tom Cruise had a master plan for Suri — convert her — which is why Katie Holmes left California behind and never looked back.

According to an industry source, who spoke to Page Six, explained how deeply damaged the relationship: “Katie has safeguarded Suri, and she’s a devoted mom. This is a girl who is a private citizen. She hasn’t lived her life in public.”

Many are curious about Suri Cruise’s reaction to Tom Cruise’s bizarre Scientology plan. At 18, Suri Cruise is an adult who could sit down for an interview where she shares her side of the story, but that is highly unlikely because she is a private citizen and would prefer to remain that way.

Tony Ortega, who has covered Scientology in depth for decades, told Page Six that it would be interesting to hear what Suri has to say: “Suri would have been too young to sign any agreement, but she will now be free to talk if she wants to, and it’s going to be really interesting if she has something to say.”

The expert on the matter confirmed that Holmes took dramatic steps to shield her daughter and added: “Part of why Katie left when she did when Suri was 6 was that Katie would have seen Isabella and Connor going through Scientology.”

When asked if Suri would ever follow in her father’s footsteps, former Scientology spokesperson Mike Rinder, who has left the organization, told Page Six that is highly doubtful.

He claimed: “Suri is not a Scientologist and never will be…she deserves love and sympathy.”

By all accounts, Suri has decided to assert her independence from her two parents by choosing to move to college and rejecting Scientology.
