Meghan Markle and her husband, Prince Harry, have found themselves in a small and private war that many predicted was coming their way because of their backgrounds and approach to life.
This background often clashes with Harry‘s desire for a more private family life. While in love or even infatuated with each other, the husband and wife seem to have a major sticking point that they cannot agree on — their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Prince Harry has claimed in numerous interviews and in his book Spare that he despises the media even though he needs the cameras, lights, and microphones to remain financially independent.
The Duke of Sussex often talks about his traumatizing experiences with the paparazzi as a child and teenager.
Prince Harry explained after losing his mother, Princess Diana, because of a wild car chase involving photographers, he was triggered by hearing the clicking sound of cameras.
He is, therefore, against having his children in front of the camera. Prince Harry pushes his children to remain private citizens at all costs.
Meghan‘s upbringing in California, a hub of the entertainment industry, thrust her into the world of Hollywood from an early age.
Her father, Thomas Markle‘s work in the sector further immersed her in the media culture, significantly shaping her views on privacy and public life.
At 11, Markle was in front of the camera, giving interviews about why changes needed to be made in the advertising industry to avoid sexist ads.
She later became an actress, model, influencer, blogger, and private speaker. Prince Harry and Markle have both landed shows on Netflix.
Markle has a cooking show, while Prince Harry is filming a docu-series about polo. Sources have revealed that Markle wanted to have the children make brief appearances on the show in a fun and light way. However, Prince Harry is against it and has prevailed for now.
An insider told The Sun on Sunday: “Harry and Meghan have not always agreed on how much they should expose their children to the media, but, in this case, Harry has clearly won.”
Markle will have to devise juicier ways to sell her cookery show without the presence of her young children.
Interestingly, after a successful trip to Nigeria, the couple may have found a way to sell their brand without using the children.
This new opportunity does not sit well with the Royal Family.
