Ben Affleck has decided to let the world know exactly how he feels about the rampant reports that his marriage to Jennifer Lopez is crumbling.
Reports originating from reputable media outlets such as PEOPLE Magazine and TMZ have been circulating, suggesting that Affleck and Lopez might be heading towards a divorce after a relatively short two years of marriage.
Insiders point out that the pair have stopped wearing their wedding bands and are rarely seen in public together. Additionally, Aflleck has abandoned his marital home with Lopez in Beverly Hills.
However, these are merely reports. So, how does Affleck genuinely feel about the state of his romance? Is he over the moon to finally be married to the actress after ending their engagement more than 20 years ago?
Is he living in a dream come true with the love of his life? The answer is no. A source close to the filmmaker revealed the depth of his emotional turmoil, describing his feelings as being trapped in a nightmarish situation with his spouse.
According to a close family friend who spoke to Page Six, in private conversations Ben Affleck would love to cite “temporary insanity” as the reason he is divorcing Jennifer Lopez.
The source stated Affleck felt a deep sense of regret, believing he had briefly lost his mind, and during that time, he reconciled and married Lopez.
The insider claimed: “He feels like the last two years were just a fever dream, and he’s come to his senses now and understands there is just no way this is going to work.”
Long before the word divorce was mentioned, Affleck hinted that a lapse of judgment pushed him to reunite with Lopez. In Lopez’s ill-fated and titled documentary, Affleck was honest and authentic, explaining that he had to change who he was to satisfy his new wife.
The Oscar winner seemed miserable as he explained his sense of disillusionment by saying: “When Jen and I broke up before, the catalyst for that was the amount of scrutiny around our private life. I had a very firm sense of boundaries, initially, around the press. Getting back together, I said, ‘Listen, one of the things I don’t want is a relationship on social media. And then I realized it’s not a fair thing to ask. It’s sort of like you’re gonna marry a boat captain and [say] like, ‘Well, I don’t like the water.'”
He added: “We’re just two people with different approaches, trying to learn to compromise.” He said he did not want to make the documentary and was not eager to share his personal stories with the world.
Affleck said: “I don’t really love being in the making-of documentary about my personal life, which is why I’m so relieved. It seems like I might be in this [movie], but I’m not really. … I was worried for no reason. The movie wasn’t about me. It was about the ability to love yourself. And that love story is a lot f–king harder to find than Prince Charming.”
Observers say that Affleck really wants out, people like his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, are pushing him to save the marriage.
