A revealing book now provides deeper and uglier insights into the tumultuous relationship between Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been the primary sources and voices of the narrative, as Middleton, bound by protocol, has been unable to defend herself.
In the widely-watched Netflix series Harry and Meghan; Markle openly expressed her feelings of being met with a cold and unwelcoming attitude from Princess Kate.
She described her first meeting with Kate Middleton in her Frogmore Cottage kitchen as less than warm and fuzzy, revealing that the future Queen refused to hug her.
She insisted that Kate Middleton provoked her wild streams of tears before her wedding with her brutal behavior and stiff attitude toward children’s dresses.
Markle painted Middleton as selfish and unfriendly because she would not share her lip gloss. However, there is more to the story, according to one royal author, whose insights will surely push Markle to her breaking point.
In his book, royal journalist Tom Bower explained that the former American actress instantly disliked Princess Kate because she understood she would be submissive.
Bower revealed in House of Beckham that “Meghan Markle saw herself as the Royal Family’s “new Princess Diana” when she first joined the Firm.”
However, the Hollywood star became upset and restless when she discovered she had to accept being “subservient” to her new sister-in-law, The Princess of Wales.
He alleges: “After Harry and Meghan’s first royal tour in Australia, which was deemed successful, the former Suits actress saw herself as the successor to Harry’s late mother but was ultimately unhappy with her position in the royal hierarchy. She was discontent because, in the royal hierarchy, she was subservient to Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge and the future Queen.”
Markle was in for more brutal surprises. The book reveals shocking moments when Markle realizes that Victoria Beckham is considered to be in a higher social class than her.
He wrote: “In Meghan’s celebrity world, ranking depended on wealth and fame. As a seasoned operator, Meghan deluded herself into thinking that her status in the Royal Family placed her above Victoria in the social pecking order. She was irritated to discover that the Beckhams had considerably more wealth than herself. They owned five homes, had constant access to private jets, invitations to sail on yachts, and much more money. And she was soon to be a duchess.”
The book revealed that Markle and the Spice Girls’ tight bond shattered in 2017 over leaks to the press. As for Princess Kate and Markle, it came to a crashing end after that dreadful Oprah Winfrey interview.
