Ben Affleck, through his ups and downs, marriage and divorces, and battles with addictions, has kept one part of his life untouched.
Jennifer Lopez and Jennifer Garner have revealed that Affleck is a marvelous father. Garner and Affleck share three children — Violet, Fin, formerly Seraphina, and Samuel.
In the bitter divorce process between Affleck and Lopez, one topic seemed off-limits — their five children. However, as weeks passed and the mud-slinging worsened, everything became fair in estrangement and divorce.
The new narrative is that Ben Affleck is unhappy with Lopez’s parenting style, and if push comes to shove, the lovely arrangement they have in place where they continue to play important roles in their kids’ lives will be canceled.
Throughout the divorce drama, Lopez continued to play the role of the doting stepmother. She was seen taking Affleck’s children to fancy dinners and fun shopping trips.
However, Affleck has now deemed these fun-filled outings a problem. Sources claimed that the actor thinks his estranged wife is spoiling his children too much by giving them anything they ask for.
An insider, who spoke to In Touch, explained that Affleck does not want his children to feel entitled.
He and Garner might be multi-millionaires, but he still wants to instill a sense of pride in earning a reward instead of having everything delivered to them by their fairy stepmother.
The children should know that the real world is not a fairytale, and they need a balanced parenting style to prepare them for it.
The person in the know claimed that the singer and actress was always the fun parent while Affleck was a bit more strict.
The source claimed: “They have always had vastly different styles of parenting. Ben spoils them from time to time and gives them their favorite treats, but J. Lo really showers them with gifts like nobody’s business.”
The insider told the outlet: “She’s very much a Disneyland stepmom. She’s always picking up treats for them. She seems to know just what will make them happy and gets a real kick out of making them smile.”
They added that Affleck is willing to accept Lopez’s overzealous kindness and generosity because a divorce is always difficult for the children involved; however, he will need her to stop at some point.
The person said: “She’s showing a lot of class, and it’s gone a long way to softening him towards her…[But] that’s not how he wants to raise them long term. It’s OK right now while they’re going through this tough time, but the last thing he wants is to raise spoiled kids, so it’s a little tough.”
Observers believe that the distance between the exes will continue to grow.
