Prince William has landed in a challenging situation where he must choose between a rock and a hard place.
The heir to the British throne is reportedly forced to either accept the extreme discomfort of being under the same roof as his estranged brother, Prince Harry, or disappoint his beloved friend and cousin.
After mulling over it, Prince William has decided he will attend Peter Phillips‘s upcoming nuptials.
It is not yet known if Kate Middleton will accompany her husband to the event. After a complicated year battling cancer and undergoing chemotherapy, Princess Kate, who is prioritizing her peace of mind, will reportedly skip the event due to the tension expected in the church and during the reception.
Peter, who is extremely close with both Prince Harry and Prince William, has opted to invite the warring brothers to the ceremony. Many believed that Prince Harry would politely decline.
However, Prince Harry has accepted because he wants to be present for his cousin and did not want to miss the opportunity to make the heir uncomfortable.
According to Yahoo and other sources, even before the wedding date is revealed to the public, Prince Harry has made his demands clear: no pictures will be taken with Prince William.
A senior royal revealed that Prince Harry’s staff had explicit rules for being in Prince William’s vicinity: “Their family dispute is still active and raw. They made it clear: no photos, no interactions, and absolutely no sitting next to one another.”
The source added that Prince Harry is not interested in having a faux Kumbaya moment with his brother because the feud is raw and forever ongoing.
The insider added: “The Duke of Sussex wants to avoid being a part of any fake PR reunion. He’s not interested in pretending things are fine when they’re not.”
Prince William, in turn, hit back by making it clear that he will not sit near his brother. The Prince of Wales’s camp insisted that his seat must reflect his future role as King.
Therefore, the arrangement seemingly clarifies that his younger brother’s position in the hierarchy is beneath his.
Because it is Peter Phillips’s second wedding, it is claimed that he and his fiancée will have a short engagement and wed in a private ceremony in the upcoming months.
A friend of Peter Phillips explained that it will be an awkward situation for all involved. An acquaintance of the Royal Family gave a sad perspective on the situation, saying that while the brothers have reluctantly agreed to be in the same building and venue, “hell will freeze over” before they accept to appear in the same frame.
Additionally, a friend of Peter Phillips chipped in to say that he has faith in the two grown men to understand it is a “celebration, not tension.”
