Prince William Applies Unexpected Pressure To Prince Harry
Prince William is reportedly escalating the feud with his younger brother, Prince Harry, by attempting to seize control of Harry’s crowning achievement.
This unexpected move is stirring significant debate, as not everyone supports the implications of Prince William’s decision on the relationship between the Duke of Sussex and King Charles III.
Sources close to the Prince of Wales have informed the Daily Mail that behind-the-scenes maneuvers are underway to remove Prince Harry from the leadership of his signature international charity: the Invictus Games.
This effort is seen as part of a wider campaign against the Duke, following his separation from his Sentebale charity earlier this year.
Now, as the Invictus Games are set to return to England, the tension between Prince William and Prince Harry is intensifying over who will be the ultimate face of the event.
The Royal Coup: William’s Race Against Time
Prince William reportedly hopes to complete his brother’s removal from the Invictus Games leadership before the event returns to Birmingham in 2026.
He is concerned about potential media criticism if the Royal Family appears unsupportive of wounded veterans. However, the core issue is the reluctance of senior royals to attend due to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s likely presence.
A royal source commented on the situation: “It is worrying that such a worthy event seems to be used for PR purposes. Normally, senior members of the Royal Family would want to attend. It goes without saying that they support the Forces to the hilt, so it would be unfortunate if they felt unable to because of Harry’s presence. If Harry were to resign as patron of Invictus, I’m sure they would have no trouble finding a new royal patron.”
Another insider added that the Duke has become an “increasingly divisive figure, particularly in the Armed Forces… Invictus is all about bringing people together… Now that it is firmly established, it might be better if the duke took a step back.”
King Charles, who is reportedly proud of the Invictus Games and keen on reconciling with his son, will likely try to attend if his health permits, which could further complicate Prince William’s plans.
Harry’s Trap and The Standoff
It is unclear how Prince William will resolve this matter, as Prince Harry has already set a potentially problematic trap by issuing invitations to the royals for the 2026 event.
Royal reporters suggest it is highly unlikely Prince Harry will relinquish control of a project he considers his enduring legacy, one he plans to pass on to his children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Rumors speculate that Prince William may seek to take over the Games himself or nominate a replacement like Mike Tindall or David Beckham.
This potential change, while supported by some royals, is considered unlikely to be approved by King Charles, which would cause further disagreement between father and son.
Fighting For His Passion Project
Prince Harry is already fighting back against the takeover. Rob Owen, chief executive of the Invictus Games Foundation, spoke out on the Duke’s behalf to the Daily Mail, asserting his unique and indispensable role: “We are proud to have the Duke of Sussex as the patron and founder. The Invictus movement stems from his ideas and his passion for the international community of wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans, borne out of his military service experience, and his understanding of the power of sport to change lives and save lives. The spotlight he brings to the community, and to our work, has changed the perceptions of mental health, of military personnel, and of disability worldwide.”
The Invictus Games, a sports event for wounded and former military personnel worldwide, was born from Prince Harry’s own experience as a former soldier.
Having spent 10 years in the military, rising to Captain and completing two tours in Afghanistan, he possesses a profound understanding of the issues faced by wounded veterans.
Regardless of personal opinions on the royal rift, many experts, including King Charles, recognize Prince Harry’s decade-long dedication to the project, noting that the Invictus Games is widely considered one of the most successful initiatives ever launched by a royal.
