Prince William is out of humor when it comes to his brother’s actions.
This week, Prince Harry showed that when facing adversity, he chooses not to give up but to employ humor to resolve the problem.
The former soldier used this approach while attending a reception at the WellChild event in London. The Duke of Sussex is currently in England for a brief “mini royal tour,” and his first stop was the WellChild Awards.
Before the award ceremony, Prince Harry sat down with 17-year-old Declan, one of the WellChild Award winners.
During the conversation, Prince Harry surprised many by making several jokes that involved his estranged brother, Prince William, the heir to the throne.
During the exchange, the young man explained to Prince Harry that he had a younger brother. Prince Harry replied by asking, “Does his younger sibling drive him insane?”
The young man confirmed that they get along, to which Prince Harry laughed and said, “You know what, siblings.”
After learning that Declan and his brother attend the same school, the Duke of Sussex said, “That sometimes makes it more challenging.”
No Meeting: William’s Pre-Existing Commitment
Many interpreted this as a subtle, indirect attempt by Prince Harry to reach out to his brother, Prince William.
Prince Harry has managed to work out a détente and a possible meeting with his father, King Charles III, during his visit to the UK.
However, he will not be able to see his older brother. Kensington Palace has officially confirmed that the Prince of Wales will not meet with his brother during his visit to the UK.
The statement cited that the heir to the throne has a pre-existing commitment to multiple engagements while Prince Harry is in town.
Nevertheless, many speculate that this is his way of breaking the ice of this frozen situation with his brother.
Harry’s Calculated Effort to De-escalate
According to many royal reporters, Prince Harry is fully aware of his brother’s stance and knows that Prince William will not meet with him.
Prince Harry is also fully aware that he has severely compromised the situation with his brother due to his insensitive revelations and painful accusations.
Therefore, his public attempt to use humor was a calculated effort to de-escalate or diffuse the tension with Prince William.
Prince William Finds Nothing Funny About Harry’s Damage
However, Prince William is not amused by this attempt at all; in fact, the contrary is true. He takes all of this seriously, believing his brother has done irreparable damage by assassinating his character in the memoir Spare and in subsequent interviews.
For Prince William, this is no laughing matter. He believes the way both Prince Harry and Meghan Markle humiliated Princess Catherine and caused her a great deal of pain — by insinuating she was racist or cold — is unforgivable.
Therefore, there is no chance that Prince William will be laughing at the pain inflicted, nor at the fact that Prince Harry painted him as a bully and an abuser.
Prince William is aware of the jokes Prince Harry shared to get his attention; he did get his attention, and his stony response is that none of this is funny.
