Doria Ragland has reportedly made her feelings known about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s decision to move back to Britain, and according to a report from Naughty But Nice, the fiercely protective grandmother had serious reservations about the plan from the beginning.

While Meghan Markle may be embracing what she sees as a new chapter in Britain, Doria has remained in California.

And after Meghan, Prince Harry, Archie and Lilibet relocated to the UK, sources claim she warned her daughter to think carefully before making such a major move.

“Doria told Meghan to think very carefully before moving back,” a family source tells Naughty But Nice. “She watched what Britain did to her daughter the first time. She saw the pressure, the criticism and the toll it took. She’s terrified history will repeat itself.”

Those concerns now come as the family has faced a series of complicated developments since returning. Archie and Lilibet were moved to a different school only two days after starting at their original school because Harry and Meghan’s security team raised concerns about the practical risks involved with the daily journey. The family has also been awaiting official reviews of their security arrangements in Britain.

Then came another major complication when King Charles issued a formal letter reiterating that Harry and Meghan remain non-working royals and private citizens despite their return to the UK. The couple were reportedly “surprised” by how little notice they received before the letter became public.

For Doria, however, the biggest concern may not be royal protocol or palace politics at all. It is her grandchildren.

“Those grandchildren are Doria’s world,” the insider says. “A few weeks ago they were close enough to hug. Now there’s an ocean between them. That’s devastating.”

There is reportedly no falling-out between Doria and Meghan, and the source insists that the mother and daughter remain extremely close. But Doria apparently was not prepared to stay silent simply because Meghan had already made up her mind.

The source also explained that the mother did not hold back when sharing her concerns about the move.

The person in knows stated: “Doria loves Meghan enough to tell her what she doesn’t want to hear. Meghan believes she’s stronger now and can make Britain work on her own terms. Doria desperately wants her to be right.”

That distinction is important because the reported objections do not necessarily mean Doria is against her daughter. Instead, the source portrays her as a mother and grandmother worried that a return to Britain could expose Meghan and the children to many of the same pressures that surrounded the family before they left for California.

“She isn’t rooting against Meghan,” the source adds. “She’s protecting her. That’s what mothers do.”

And with security questions still being reviewed, the children adjusting to a new school and King Charles making clear that the Sussexes’ royal status has not changed simply because they have returned, Doria’s reported concerns now look less like a simple objection to Britain and more like a warning about how complicated this new chapter could become.
