R. Kelly’s Ex-Wife Andrea Opens Up About Alleged Domestic Abuse In Their Marriage On ‘The View’

Andrea Kelly R. Abuse The View

Is R&B star R. Kelly a monster? According to his ex-wife, Andrea Kelly, who was married to the “Ignition” singer for 13 years, that is exactly who he is.

The former reality TV star appeared on The View on Thursday to tell her story of abuse at the hands of the man who dominated urban music for close to two decades.

Andrea is joining a long list of women who have accused the Chicago crooner of doing some horrific things. He has denied all the previous accusations, but he has remained silent when it comes to the domestic abuse charge stemming from his marriage with the choreographer.

The mother of three, who waited close to ten years to open up about the alleged abuse, explained: “It’s about saving lives. You cannot not speak when someone’s life and what they’ve been through is parallel to yours.”

She added: “As a mom when you’re willing to leave their babies without their mom, that’s the lowest low. The fact that I was willing to leave them let me know the best thing you have to do for you and your children to live is leave.”

Whoopi Goldberg did bring up the fact that the controversial Pied Piper of R&B music has stopped paying child support and wondered if this situation had anything to do with Andrea’s decision to go public.

She said that she would have come out regardless. Her critics argue that when the child support checks were going through she never had one negative thing to say about the man she calls Robert.

For her defenders, this is just a form of victim blaming that does not align itself well with the #MeToo movement. In this era, they say the story of abuse is more important than the context that helped bring it forward.

Either way, the numerous allegations against the Chicago native have slowed his career.
