El Chapo’s Wife Emma Coronel Aispuro Is Living Her Best Life On Social Media As His Trial Nears

Emma Coronel Aispuro Joaquin 'El Chapo' Guzman Wife

Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman’s wife, Emma Coronel Aispuro, is busy living her best life in Mexico while her infamous husband awaits trial at the maximum-security wing of the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan, New York.

Coronel, who was born in America, married the notorious Mexican drug lord in 2007. The marriage took place in front of a few people one day before she turned 18.

Coronel, a mother of two, is keeping a strong presence on social media. She keeps her followers happy with bikini pictures and excerpts of her constant traveling. For example, she was at Yankee Stadium in August.

Coronel, who only posted 18 times in the past eight months, has over 229,000 followers. The 29-year-old woman claims that she is using social media because many people who do not really know her are pretending to be her.

In September, she threw an over-the-top Barbie-themed party for the couple’s 7-year-old twins — Emali and Maria Joaquina.

The photographer, Antonio Tizoc, who covered the event, described it as “Celebrating #MaximumElegance” and he got blasted for it.

He responded to the backlash by saying, “They have attacked me. But in Culiacan, it’s really normal to have parties like this. Rich and poor, we like big parties.”

To avoid controversy and criticism, Coronel has turned off comments on her Instagram page. El Chapo is not allowed contact with his spouse, and all of her requests in that sense were denied.

However, she does post sweet messages from time to time, that seem to be directed at him. She once wrote on Twitter, “I could never forget you, not after loving you so much.”

Another note posted around Valentine’s Day after her spouse’s arrest read: “Learning how to cry is not a sign of weakness.”

In a statement to the Mexican press, she has tried to put some distance between herself and her personas on social media.

El Chapo’s trial is set for November 5.
