Christopher Watts, the 33-year-old Colorado father responsible for the killing of his pregnant wife, Shanann Watts, 34, and their children — Bella, 4, and Celeste, 3, apparently paid his gay lover, Trent Bolte, a lot of money during their 10-month secret affair.
The 28-year-old man, who anonymously called into an HLN show in August, spoke to authorities and the information he gave them is now surfacing in the media.
Bolte said Chris Watts paid him a total of $390 on three different occasions. He showed some texts to investigators that supposedly came from Mr. Watts between June 2017 and April 2018.
The authorities did not find texts from Bolte on the killer’s iPhone. Moreover, although he did talk to his mother about seeing a man named Chris; the woman could not confirm that it was the same person.
Bolte’s mom, Colleen Bolte, who also spoke to the authorities, is not ruling out that her son invented the whole thing.
When they asked her if her son could make all of this up, she replied, “Well, God help him if he is.” Mr. Blote, an escort from Wyoming, claims he stayed at his parents’ home in the Cowboy State with Watts while they were not there.
The Weld County District Attorney’s Office released notes from their interviews last week. On November 19, Watts was sentenced to life in prison after he pleaded guilty to the murders. This plea put the death penalty off the table.
Shanann’s father, Frank Rzucek, said the following in a victim impact statement: “How dare you take the lives of my daughter, Shanann, Bella, Celeste and [unborn son] Nico? You don’t know what love is. Because if you did, you would not have killed them. You monster.”
He added: “You thought you would get away with this. You carried them out like trash. … You buried my daughter Shanann and Nico in a shallow grave, and then you put Bella and Celeste in huge containers of crude oil.”
The killer showed no emotion while hearing these words.
