In an emotional update via social media, Hillary Clinton announced that her youngest brother, Tony Rodham, has died.
It has been confirmed that Mr. Rodham passed away on Friday night, but the cause of death has not been revealed to the public.
The businessman born in 1954 is survived by his wife, Megan Madden, and his three children —Zachary, Simon, and Fiona.
The man is also survived by his older brother, Hugh Rodham. The late Rodham was previously married to former Senator Barbara Boxer’s daughter, Nicole Boxer.
The former secretary of state and the 2016 Democratic presidential candidate said in her brief tweet that her brother was known for spreading cheers and provided her with many beautiful memories.
Mrs. Clinton wrote: “We lost my brother Tony last night. It’s hard to find words, and my mind is flooded with memories of him today. When he walked into a room, he’d light it up with laughter.”
She added: “He was kind, generous, & a wonderful husband to Megan & father to Zach, Simon, & Fiona. We’ll miss him very much.”
In a past interview, Rodham opened up about the gift and the curse of being related to Former president Bill Clinton and his wife, Hillary
He claimed: “It can go both ways. There are some wonderful things that have happened to me because of my relationship with Hillary and Bill, and there have been some really terrible things that have happened to me.”
Rodham highly benefited from having a sister, who is a significant contributor to the Democratic party. In 1992, he worked for the Democratic National Committee after his brother-in-law launched his first presidential campaign.
Using his ties to Mr. Clinton, Rodham managed to obtain a presidential pardon for a couple from Tennessee Edgar and Vonna Jo Gregory who were in trouble with the law.
The carnival operators, who had been convicted of bank fraud, gave Rodham a $245,000 loan for “consulting work” and for making their troubles go away.
Rodham was a man who wore many hats, before becoming a consultant; he was employed as an insurance salesman, a correctional officer and a private detective.
He also partnered with longtime Clinton friend Terry McAuliffe to launch an electric car company, GreenTech Automotive that was mainly funded by Chinese businessmen who obtained green cards for their large checks.
