Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, were dominating the news cycle because of the Dutch/British racist scandal that erupted following the release of the book Endgame.
However, the pair also spilled lots of ink with reports that they were hit with the snub of the year. Sources claimed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been left out of the royal wedding that English society is looking forward to.
Prince Harry and Prince William’s childhood best friend and billionaire, Hugh Grosvenor, the Duke of Westminster, is set to marry Olivia Henson.
The Duke of Westminster and Prince Harry have a tight bond and have traveled extensively together. Hugh Grosvenor is also Prince Archie and Prince George‘s godfather.
Grosvenor is the godson of King Charles III. Multiple sources told PEOPLE and The Sunday Times that the Duke of Westminster made the decision to exclude Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from the June nuptials because he wanted to avoid family drama.
Kate Middleton, Prince William, King Charles, and Queen Camilla will all be in attendance during the ceremony and the Duke does not want “a family clash amid the rift between the royal brothers.”
A source told PEOPLE: “It’s incredibly sad it has come to this. Hugh is one of the very few close friends of William and Harry’s who has maintained strong bonds and a line of communication with both. He wishes they could put their heads together and patch things up, but realizes it’s unlikely to happen before the wedding.”
The insider continued: “He wanted to avoid anything overshadowing the day, especially for Olivia, and doesn’t want any awkwardness.”
However, a source close to Prince Harry told Page Six that he and Markle received invitations, but he personally called the Duke of Westminster to profusely apologize and decline the invitation.
Prince Harry made the heartbreaking call because he wanted to avoid an awkward situation with Prince William and other family members.
Page Six revealed: “Harry actually got a ‘save the date’ card a few months ago but called Hugh and said it would be too awkward if he and Meghan Markle attended, so he made his apologies and Hugh understood.”
Prince Harry’s decision to decline the invitation to the wedding is devastating for young Archie, this is yet another missed opportunity for the child to spend time with a person who deeply cares about him.
Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet are already cut off from King Charles, Prince William, Kate Middleton and their cousins — Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis because of the family feud.
It is sad that Prince Archie cannot spend time with his godfather or play a role at the wedding alongside Prince George because of the ongoing war.
The nasty and endless royal battle is certainly not beneficial to the children.
Harry and Meghan have no children born to them. So stop saying they do. Sick of it.
