Author and lifestyle guru Martha Stewart swore off political endorsements, but she has decided to stir Donald Trump’s wrath by revealing that she is backing Kamala Harris in the White House race.
Stewart recently participated in the 2024 Retail Influencer CEO Forum, where she conversed with The Daily Beast‘s Chief Creative and Content Officer, Joanna Coles.
The author and former television host explained that she kept up with politics and followed the debates. She also revealed that she supported only one candidate.
The Daily Beast reported that Martha Stewart made a conscious effort to pronounce the vice president’s Sanskrit name correctly.
The outlet reported: “But for the first time this go-round, she also said who she’s voting for: “Kamala,” she said, with an emphasis on its correct pronunciation.”

Martha Stewart was brutally honest about why she prefers Harris over Trump. The Daily Beast continued: “Stewart supports Harris because she wants a president “who doesn’t hate New York” and “doesn’t hate democracy.”
The 83-year-old TV personality and Donald Trump have been feuding since 2006 over the series The Apprentice. Stewart and Trump hosted two versions of the show that aired simultaneously.
Via nasty interviews and heavily worded public letters, Martha Stewart and Donald Trump clashed over ratings and who should be fired.
The fight with Donald Trump led Martha Stewart to back Hillary Clinton in 2016. She told CNN at the time: “We just can’t have a country run by someone who is totally unprepared for what comes.”
Martha Stewart quickly regretted her decision to enter the political arena. She refused to back Joe Biden in 2020 and said she would no longer voice her opinion on such matters because it hurt her business.
In an interview with The New York Times, Martha Stewart said she was banned from sharing her political views. She stated: “My personal conundrum is, my friends know who I am and what I stand for. But regarding being the magazine owner, how do you take sides when 50 percent of your readers might be on one side and 50 percent on the other? It’s difficult. That’s my answer to that.”
She continued: “I’m not allowed to talk [about politics]. I can’t post anything about politics because first of all, the eyeballs of a parent company come and [I’ll] get a call right away—can’t do that. You can’t talk [about that], so—keep it quiet.”
It seems that Stewart had a change of heart.
