The power struggle began with the leak via The Daily Mail, in which Wintour personally contacted Kate Middleton and offered her the cover.
Catherine, Princess of Wales, was given carte blanche to work with the photographer and designers of her choosing.
The Mail‘s report was quickly seen as another snub to Mrs. Trump. Anna Wintour, a fervent Democrat, had Michelle Obama, Jill Biden, and Hillary Clinton on Vogue when they were first ladies.
The offer to Princess Kate indicated that Melania Trump would never receive that honor.
Anna Wintour escalated the situation by publishing a horrible review of Melania Trump’s official White House portrait.
Vogue delivered a slapdown of Melania Trump’s pose, attire, and demeanor, writing: “The choice to wear a tuxedo instead of a blazer or blouse made Trump look more like a freelance magician than a public servant. It’s perhaps unsurprising that a woman who lived in a gold-encrusted penthouse, whose fame is so intertwined with a reality-television empire, would refuse to abandon theatrics—even when faced with 248 years of tradition.”

Amidst the storm, Bill White, a close friend of the Trumps, stepped in to defend Melania. White, who is President Trump’s nominee for US ambassador to Belgium, told the New York Post: “Mrs. Trump is truly elegant and eloquent in all she says and does. Mrs. Trump is our most beautiful first lady … in our country’s history, both inside and out. She is a loving mother to her fabulous son Barron and an extraordinary wife and life partner to our 47th president.”
A well-connected Vogue source told the Daily Mail that Anna Wintour will be forced to descend the woke train because the men with deep pockets have become Donald Trump’s friendly bodies and loyal servants.
Billionaires such as Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Google guru Sundar Pichel, and Apple head Tim Cook will force Wintour to give Mrs. Trump the cover.
