Melania Trump is a quiet and reserved person, while Donald Trump is more interested in the spotlight and willing to engage with anyone who has a microphone.
This week, the president of the free world took some time from his busy schedule of micromanaging the nation, the ICE raids, the protests, his army, and his birthday parade, as well as the ongoing war between Iran and Israel, for a fascinating interview where he mainly focused on family life.
President Trump, 79, spoke to The New York Post about his parenting style when it comes to his youngest son, 18-year-old Barron Trump.
Even though Barron is a young adult who technically no longer lives at home, the president ensures he obeys three strict rules.
Barron does not reside in the White House; he is at Trump Tower in New York while attending New York University’s Stern School of Business.
The former reality told the media outlet: “I always said the same thing. I said: no drugs, no alcohol, no cigarettes. I also would say don’t get tattoos, but I don’t say it too strongly because a lot of people have gotten tattoos, and that’s what they choose to do.”
Trump went on to shower Barron with compliments by revealing that he is a great young man. Trump also shared a heartbreaking story about the teenager.
The president explained that the main reason Barron picked NYU was because his grandmother lived nearby. Barron had plans to go to school and spend time with his grandmother in the afternoon.
But life had another devasting plan for the grandmother and grandson — Melania Trump’s mother, Amalija Knavs, passed away after battling an unrevealed illness in 2024.
Trump stated: “Barron is great. He is very tall and good. He just wanted to be there. He wanted to be there because his grandmother was gonna stay and wait for him in an apartment near the school. And she passed away.'”
The Daily Mail previously reported that the young Trump had political ambitions, and the president confirmed that he actively participated in his campaign strategy with Gen Z.
However, he has dampened down the fire to take the reign after his father. It is believed that the devastating loss of his best friend and grandmother is one of the reasons why Barron has decided to have a low profile and remain apolitical while in college.
A source revealed via PEOPLE and News Nation: “He is much more like his mother, Melania — he keeps his head down and gets on with it. He is not trying to be BMOC (big man on campus). Barron is pretty apolitical — he doesn’t get involved.”
Barron is doing things differently.
