The president claimed his spouse behaves like one of those famous, elusive vintage Hollywood actresses who keep the media talking and guessing because they know almost nothing about them.
However, Donald Trump, on the other hand, loves to talk, often revealing unexpected and sometimes outrageous information or moments about his family or private life.
In a recent speech, Trump unveiled one jaw-dropping compliment he loves giving his wife. Donald Trump, the man the world has come to know as a bombastic communicator, then revealed the rather unflattering reason behind this particular praise.
In one of his unfiltered moments, Donald Trump revealed in a speech in Iowa: “One year ago, I remember saying to our great first lady, ‘You know, first lady. I call her ‘first lady’ because it makes me feel good. ‘first lady.’ Isn’t it terrible? Saying, ‘Good night, first lady, my darling’?”
The president added: “Because it reminds me that I’m President. That’s why. Now, I said, ‘First lady, it’s terrible. Nobody wants to join our military force.”
In fact, the president refers to his spouse as “first lady” not to honor her or her accomplishments but to boost his own self-image and reinforce his identity as president of the United States.
Trump brought up his odd nickname for his wife while making a series of rather bizarre revelations regarding Russian President Vladimir Putin.
During a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in the Oval Office, Trump explained that his wife constantly drags Putin for his deadly attacks on Ukraine.
Trump stated: “I go home, I tell the first lady, ‘You know, I spoke to Vladimir today. We had a wonderful conversation.’ And she said, ‘Oh really? Another city was just hit.”
Trump again explained that he refers to his spouse as “first lady” in private.
While repeating the claims that Melania Trump is not a supporter of Putin, Trump shared: “I’d get home, I’d say, ‘first lady, I had the most wonderful talk with Vladimir. I think we’re finished.’ And then I’ll turn on the television, or she’ll say to me one time, ‘Wow, that’s strange because they just bombed a nursing home.'”
The private confession stunningly drew laughs from the White House State Dining Room crowd.
