In the midst of a nasty and frankly bizarre lawsuit where the First Lady of France, Brigitte Macron, is forced to give medical proof that she is a woman in her case against conservative commentator Candace Owens, the president of France, Emmanuel Macron, found himself in an embarrassing situation while in the middle of New York City.
A Motorcade Causes Undue Distress
On the way to the UN, Macron’s entourage was caught in notorious New York traffic, caused by Donald Trump, who was also set to address the UN. Trump delivered a scorching speech, insulting leaders and accusing them of “ruining their countries” and “dragging their nations to hell.”
While Trump was busy with his speech, Macron and his staff were stuck in the infamous traffic jam. The journalists who were tagging along watched as Macron whipped out his phone and jokingly explained that he was having a conversation with “the man himself,” Donald Trump. Macron awkwardly joked that he scolded President Trump for creating the traffic jam, which forced him to walk in the streets.
A Difficult Position For Emmanuel Macron
Macron told the US president during their phone call: “Guess what, I’m waiting on the street because everything is frozen for you.”
Eventually, a New York police officer approached the French president to apologize for the bizarre situation: “I’m sorry, Mister President, I’m really sorry. It’s just that everything’s been frozen right now. There’s a motorcade coming right now, that’s why.”
Macron took a more serious tone, explaining that he was also addressing global issues while wandering the streets of New York like a stray cat. He noted to reporters that he was in the middle of a negotiation with Trump about the ongoing war between Israel and Palestine. Macron has been pushing the American president to recognize Palestine as a country, something Trump has constantly pushed back against.
A Direct Rebuttal At The United Nations
At the United Nations’ General Assembly Hall, Macron made it official that France has recognized the State of Palestine. He said: “True to the historic commitment of my country to the Middle East, to peace between the Israelis and the Palestinians, this is why I declare that today, France recognizes the state of Palestine.” Macron was greeted by a standing ovation.
Trump’s speech appeared to serve as a direct rebuttal to his French rival. Donald Trump had this to say during his “me me” remarks: “I ended seven wars, dealt with the leaders of each and every one of these countries, and never even received a phone call from the United Nations offering to help in finalizing the deal,” Trump said. He added, “It’s time to end the failed experiment of open borders. You have to end it now. I can tell you I’m really good at this stuff. Your countries are going to hell.”
It is possible that Trump might have purposely used his motorcade to drag Emmanuel Macron from his pedestal, especially after suffering two embarrassing incidents at the UN: both the escalator he was riding and the teleprompter he was using for his speech malfunctioned.
