Ilhan Omar had managed to make substantial progress in her political career in recent years, and it came as a shock to many to see her publicly accused of infidelity, after it came to light that she might have had an affair with Tim Mynett, who worked as a campaign strategist for her platform.
Dr. Beth Mynett claimed Omar has been cheating with her husband in the divorce papers she filed in court.
While the allegations are yet to be proven, both sides have been rather vague in their stance on the situation, Omar is already facing a very problematic effect of the whole ordeal: she might lose her husband.
Recent reports indicate that Ahmed Hirsi, who is currently married to the fiery congresswoman, has decided to file for divorce after the accusations surfaced.
Omar’s current husband and father of their three children is reportedly set to file for divorce soon but is very confused by the complicated divorce process.
What is odd is that back in March, Omar asked her spouse to start the divorce procedure because she did not want to get entangled in the messy paperwork and stain her reputation and political career.
Responses to his decision have been mixed, with some pointing out that the accusations against Omar have not been proven at the moment, while others are more supportive of the politician’s husband, claiming that he has every right to pursue his happiness elsewhere, especially if she is cheating.
Omar herself has been trying to maintain her distance from the situation, but it does not look like this will be very easy for her at this point.
The Minnesota politician has been facing more and more backlash as a result of her alleged infidelity, and many have pointed out that she is only hurting her case by keeping quiet about the situation.
Others have taken her silence as an indirect admission of guilt, although it is probably not fair to think in that direction just yet. Many conservatives have rushed to social media to comment on the rumors.

This social media user stated: “Incest, fraud, fornicating with a married man, using campaign funds illegally, anything else before they get rid of this scab of society.”
A fourth remark read: “It’s called “Do as I say, not as I do” – it’s a traditional liberal stance on self-control, self-awareness, and behavior. She pretends to care for America, but her intentions are self-serving. I don’t trust her.”
Omar sort of sidestepped the issue when it was brought up to her attention.
