Barack Obama and his two daughters — Sasha and Malia — enjoyed time in the ocean during their annual trip to Hawaii as a family.

While Michelle Obama was nowhere to be seen, the former US president and his daughters relaxed and spent some time in the water over the weekend.

Taking a moment to sit on their paddleboards, 20-year-old Sasha and 23-year-old Malia were seen chatting to each other and soaking up the Hawaiian sunshine on Friday.

The weather was no doubt much warmer in Hawaii than in Obama’s home back in Washington.

Barack Obama, 60, was seen taking a dip in the water the following day wearing a pair of black swim shorts, revealing his toned upper body.

He was pictured going under the water before emerging again and taking in the sunshine. On Friday, his oldest daughter, Malia, was seen wearing a pink bikini and a short white beach skirt, accessorizing with a baseball hat. She appeared relaxed as she sat on a paddleboard.

Her sister, Sasha, wore some eye-catching chunky jewelry to pair with a red bikini.

Sasha also looked like she was enjoying the paddleboarding experience off the tranquil island of O’ahu and was seen standing, kneeling, and sitting down.

Sasha is believed to be attending the University of Michigan, while Malia graduated from Harvard University in summer 2021.

Malia is reportedly joining the writing staff of a new Donald Glover project for Amazon. Her sister is on break.

During Obama’s time as president of the US, from 2008 until 2016, he and his family took several trips to Hawaii — the state where the ex-leader of the free world was born and raised.

It became known as the spot they visited for their annual Christmas trip, escaping the colder weather of Washington for a festive break.

They would often spend their days there is a private and secluded beach house. The Obamas have spent more time together in the past two years.

The COVID-19 pandemic and the ensuing lockdowns forced the two young women to move back in with their parents for a time.

The former first lady said she appreciated those moments. She told PEOPLE: “This time has allowed us to get some stolen moments back with our girls. Those recaptured moments have meant the world to us and I think they’ve made our relationships with our children even stronger.”

In the Biden era, the former president has been quite discreet.
