In late 2022, Donald Trump made sure that he was the first Republican to declare his candidacy for the 2024 presidential election.
The former president, who is famous for loud and extravagant fanfare, had a low-key announcement at Mar-a-Lago. His wife, Melania Trump, and his oldest daughter, Ivanka Trump, were noticeably absent from the political event.
The two Trump women played pivotal roles during his 50-state campaign in 2016 and later made their marks in the White House.
However, Ivanka Trump has permanently retired from political life so she can focus on her businesses and her family.
As for the former First Lady Melania Trump, her close friends have confirmed to PEOPLE Magazine that she no longer wants to be in the spotlight.
With two of his leading ladies out of the political picture, the billionaire has returned to basics and is trying to lure one of the most prominent women back to his campaign.
The former reality TV star is said to be doing his best to get Kellyanne Conway on his side. Conway, who managed Trump’s campaign, has made it in the history books as the first woman to have run a successful U.S. presidential campaign.
The former pollster served as a Senior Counselor to Trump from 2017 to 2020. People from Trump’s team spoke to Page Six and explained that Trump is attempting to lure the political consultant into his campaign so she can inject some much-needed life and energy.
One political insider confirmed that Trump has been in touch with Conway and added: “He always appreciated so much and understood the value she brought to 2016. Without her, it wouldn’t have happened. She was a formidable opponent [with Cruz], and [Trump] might want to lock her up and make sure she doesn’t go to DeSantis.”
The staff member explained that Conway is a political star, a kingmaker, and is therefore in high demand.
The source familiar with the situation stated: “Kellyanne has an excellent relationship with President Trump and his team . . . but she would be crazy to commit to a single opportunity right now. She is busier than ever with a lengthy roster of political, corporate, and media clients, not to mention offers from 2024 players and a big Fox News contract.”
The insider concluded by saying that Trump sees Conway more appealing than ever for the following reasons: “Now that she’s divorced from Trump hater George Conway, Trump feels she has less baggage. She never crossed an uncrossable line in her book [last year’s ‘Here’s the Deal’] and TV appearances.”
Trump’s arrest, indictment, and ongoing lawsuits have made him more attractive to voters. Trump is now leading President Joe Biden in the polls.
However, the November 2024 election is still far away, experts say.
