Donald Trump recently did an interview with Newsmax in which he held nothing back. The former president was directly asked the question that is on many conservatives’ minds: will he sign the pledge?

Those hoping to win the GOP presidential primary have been asked to sign a pledge that they will back whoever wins the race. The non-legal document was put in place to help the Republican nominee have all the support necessary to go up against the Democrat, in this case, President Joe Biden.

The presidential hopefuls, who signed the pledge, also promised not to run as “an independent, write-in candidate, or third-party nominee.”

Signing the pledge is also a requirement for the candidates who want to take part in the debate later this month.

The pledge reads: “I affirm that if I do not win the 2024 Republican nomination for President of the United States, I will honor the will of the primary voters and support the nominee to save our country and beat Joe Biden.”

In the past, when Trump was asked about being a signer of the non-binding paper, he would joke by saying, “I will be the nominee, and there is no need to sign it.”

However, this time around, Trump took a more serious tone to say that he will not sign it. Trump put the race in shambles, by telling the conservative cable network that he would not take the pledge because there are several political figures in the race he does not like.

This revelation will leave the party scrambling for a solution because the nominee will need all of Trump’s MAGA voters to beat Biden.

The billionaire stated: “Why would I sign it?” I can name three or four people that I wouldn’t support for the president. So right there, there’s a problem.”

Donald Trump did not reveal the names of the individuals but has been very vocal about Mike Pence and Chris Christie, whom he sees as traitors.

Trump has attacked Ron DeSantis relentlessly for not kissing his ring. It can be assumed that he is not a fan of these three men.

In the same interview, Trump went on to praise two candidates who are rumored to be on his short list of potential vice presidents.

Talking about Tim Scott and Vivek Ramaswamy, Donald Trump said, “They have been very nice.”

When it comes to the debate, Trump appeared at a recent political event where he asked his supporters if he should participate.

He said he was not interested because he was leading in the polls. Trump also said he might show up just to entertain American voters.
