Melania Trump was quick to react after her husband and former President Donald Trump came mere inches from losing his life at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania just last week.
Trump, standing in front of a supportive crowd, was shot at by a sniper. It is believed that the male shooter attempted to kill Trump by firing at least five shots.
Secret Service and local police officers killed the shooter. Melania Trump was not at the event and was made immediately aware of her husband’s condition.
The former first lady had been in contact with her husband after the assassination attempt. She honestly believed it was a horrible day for the country and her family.
While outraged, Melania Trump believes this much is true: her husband is not afraid; he will fight for the country and continue with the presidential campaign.
Donald Trump is doing fine; he did not sustain any life-threatening injuries from the bullets. He suffered minor injuries to the ear and was taken to a local hospital.
Donald Trump’s oldest son, Donald Trump Jr., spoke out after the incident and said his father was in great spirits in the hospital.
He stated at the time: “I just spoke to my father on the phone, and he is in great spirits. He will never stop fighting to save America, no matter what the radical left throws at him.”
Donald Trump issued a statement after the shooting, saying: “I want to thank The United States Secret Service and all of Law Enforcement for their rapid response to the shooting that just took place in Butler, Pennsylvania. Most importantly, I want to extend my condolences to the family of the person at the Rally who was killed and also to the family of another person who was badly injured.”
The former reality star added: “It is incredible that such an act can take place in our country. Nothing is known at this time about the shooter, who is now dead. I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound and shots and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin. Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening. GOD BLESS AMERICA!”
Ivanka Trump took to social media to thank the Secret Service for their decisive action that saved her father and led to the death of the snipper.
She said: “Thank you for your love and prayers for my father and for the other victims of today’s senseless violence in Butler, Pennsylvania. I am grateful to the Secret Service and all the other law enforcement officers for their quick and decisive actions today. I continue to pray for our country. I love you, Dad, today and always.”
The former first lady has also put out a lengthy statement. Mr. Trump is enjoying the full support of his party during this week’s Republican convention.
