In a mindfully-crafted message on Instagram, Taylor Swift announced her backing of Vice President Kamala Harris.
Her endorsement sparked a significant debate and drew attention to the role of celebrities in shaping public discourse.
It also pushed Donald Trump to perform one of the biggest acts of hate online in the past months. He confirmed his ugly feelings for Swift in a message:” I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT.”
While Swift, Eminem, and Harrison Ford made gestures to promote Harris’s candidacy, Trump also landed a few high-profile endorsers.
Elon Musk and music star Kid Rock supported the former president’s bid for the White House.
Given the usual clashes between the two sides, Kid Rock’s unexpected approach raised a few eyebrows. In an interview, the rocker revealed that he still loves Eminem and Taylor Swift.
He took it further by explaining that he fully respects their political views. The musician said: “I love Eminem. We’ve been friends for many years. I don’t agree with his politics, but I do give credit to him and people like Taylor Swift for standing up and not being afraid to be vocal about what they believe.”
In another conversation, the artist said he is very much in contact with his fellow Michigan artist, Eminem.
After Donald Trump was declared the winner of the presidential election, Kid Rock, whose government name is Bob Ritchie, shared a message with Republicans and pleaded with them not to gloat but to mend the divide in this nation.
He said: “First off, let me convey to my family, friends, and supporters that now is not the time to gloat. We must remember that most of our left-leaning friends are good people who want the same things in life that we do but simply think differently on how to get there.”
He continued: “It is now time to be the bigger man, to extend an olive branch and unite all reasonable people of this great nation.”
Not all of Kid Rock’s supporters agreed with the message to unite and move forward. Many are slamming him for his suggestion, with one person stating: “Ummm, yeah, I won’t be extending any olive branches to people who wished me dead for not taking their heart-stopping experimental drugs or wished me imprisoned for my political beliefs.”
Some Trump backers claimed he was ruining his reputation, standing, and career by becoming a peacemaker.
Since endorsing Harris and encouraging Americans to vote on election day, Swift has removed herself from the complicated and often ugly world of politics.
Instead, she is focused heavily on her career, tour, and fans. The singer has also continued her work as a philanthropist, donating to causes near her heart.
