With each passing day, JD Vance is discovering that he is no Donald Trump. The Vice President of the United States has been forced to swallow the reality that he is not even a Marco Rubio or a Jared Kushner.
He possesses little personality, limited appeal, and carries very little weight. This has become clearer than ever after he failed Donald Trump in the Iran negotiations. Upon his return to Washington, D.C., Vance received the cold shoulder from Trump, who had ignored him and called in the “big boys” to advance talks with Iran.
Trump has decided to shift focus from Iran, at least briefly, to pick a new fight with Pope Leo XIV and the Catholic community.
Trump has been going back and forth with the pope via words, threats, and bizarre AI-generated photos and videos, as this war is also being fought through insane and inappropriate AI content.
While Trump is a beast when it comes to navigating controversies — mainly because he creates a dozen a day and survives them all — the same cannot be said for JD Vance. The Ohio politician cannot replicate the behavior of the “wild bull from New York,” the real estate mogul who has survived impeachment, scandals, and endless legal battles. Trump is fueled and fed by the drama; Vance is merely consumed by it.
Vance attempted the Trump stunt at a Turning Point USA event in Athens, Georgia, this week, only to be left red-faced and humiliated. Attempting to get back into Trump’s good graces, JD Vance went for the jugular by issuing an alarming warning to Pope Leo XIV, stating: “It’s very, very important for the pope to be careful when he talks about matters of theology… in the same way that it’s important for the vice president of the United States to be careful when I talk about matters of public policy.”
This comment did not sit well with the audience, which consisted of Christians and Republicans who are huge supporters of Donald Trump. The attendees booed and heckled him. An unidentified protester shouted that Jesus Christ would never support genocide, leveling a serious accusation that leadership policies were resulting in the deaths of children.
The Heckler claimed: “Jesus Christ does not support genocide! You’re killing children! You’re bombing children!”
JD Vance, who has watched Trump handle hecklers and conflict with brutal force and zero mercy, tried to fight back by speaking to the moral justification of war. He argued that God supported American forces during the liberation of France and the Nazi concentration camps, saying: “Was God on the side of the Americans who liberated France from the Nazis? Was God on the side of the Americans who liberated Holocaust camps… I certainly think the answer is ‘Yes.'”
Directly addressing the interrupter, JD Vance stated: “Hey, random dude screaming, I told you I’d respond to your point!”
Vance was also seen dissecting a recent post on X by Pope Leo XIV, where the “baseball and hot dog-loving pontiff” asserted that God does not favor any side in a conflict and that true followers of Christ must reject modern weaponry.
Pope Leo XIV wrote: “God does not bless any conflict. Anyone who is a disciple of Christ, the Prince of Peace, is never on the side of those who once wielded the sword and today drop bombs.”
Later, during an interview with Bret Baier on Fox News, Vance suggested that the Vatican should confine its influence to matters of faith while leaving American public policy to the President, claiming: “I certainly think that in some cases, it would be best for the Vatican to stick to matters of morality… to stick to matters of what’s going on in the Catholic Church and let the president of the United States stick to dictating American public policy. When they’re in conflict, they’re in conflict. I don’t worry too much about it, Bret.”
While Vance struggles to find his footing, Donald Trump slammed the pope, saying: “I don’t want a Pope who thinks it’s OK for Iran to have a Nuclear Weapon. I don’t want a Pope who thinks it’s terrible that America attacked Venezuela. Pope Leo is WEAK on Crime, and terrible for Foreign Policy.”
Aboard a flight to Algeria, Pope Leo XIV hit back hard and boldly declared that he is not intimidated by the Trump administration and remains committed to his spiritual mission, stating: “I have no fear of the Trump administration, or speaking out loudly of the message of the Gospel, which is what I believe I am here to do. We are not politicians, we don’t deal with foreign policy with the same perspective he might understand it… ‘Blessed are the peacemakers’ is the message that the world needs to hear today.”
Ultimately, JD Vance remains a desperate mimic, flailing in a costume that clearly does not fit. His aggressive posturing only underscores his status as a secondary figure, proving he lacks the natural charisma to ever truly orbit Donald Trump. He is trying too hard, and the world can see it.
