Aguilera recently landed in the news over a viral video in which a reporter asked her to share her thoughts on Britney Spears’s conservatorship being terminated after 13 years.
Aguilera wished Spears the best and said she was happy for her, but her team did not let her share any additional comments on the matter.
Britney Spears reposted the video and had these harsh words for the singer: “I love and adore everyone who supported me… But refusing to speak when you know the truth is equivalent to a lie! Spears seems not to be aware that Christina Aguilera issued a lengthy letter showing her love and support while she was going through a very emotional court battle against her father in June.
Back then, Christina Aguilera penned a touching note where she stated: “These past few days, I’ve been thinking about Britney and everything she is going through. It is unacceptable that any woman, or human, wanting to be in control of their own destiny might not be allowed to live life as they wish. To be silenced, ignored, bullied, or denied support by those ‘close’ to you is the most depleting, devastating, and demeaning thing imaginable. The harmful mental and emotional damage this can take on a human spirit is nothing to be taken lightly.”
After the Britney Spears scandal, a source close to Christina Aguilera revealed that she was surprised by the heavily-worded statement, and she would love to reach out.
The person claimed: “Christina wasn’t expecting to be called out from Britney; she was genuinely surprised over the call out. They obviously aren’t close friends with each other anymore, but they still hold a history with each other that Christina feels she should still protect. Now Christina would like to have a private chat with Britney to settle some issues that still clearly lie.”
Some are hoping that the controversy will lead to a mini-summit or the two divas making sweet music together.
