Queen Elizabeth II has been vindicated. In the past few months, many found Her Majesty‘s public treatment of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to be disconcerting.
However, the latest moves from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex prove that she was wise to handle the situation the way she did. The power couple seems ready to capitalize on their journey, and members of the British royal family will not appreciate all of it.
The 37-year-old father of two is readying his memoir for 2023; according to insiders, he will dig as deeply as possible into his past. It is expected that he will revisit his parents’ divorce, which means Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles could be depicted in a very negative light.
Moreover, Markle has launched her podcast, Archetypes, on Spotify with a lot of success, and many observers believe that this development will push her to talk more about her time in The Palace.
Markle sat down with The Cut and said that she is free to say whatever she wants now that she is no longer with The Firm. She also created new drama by suggesting that the relationship between Prince Harry and Prince Charles might not be repairable.
She stated: “Harry said to me, ‘I lost my dad in this process.’ It doesn’t have to be the same for them as it was for me, but that’s his decision.” Someone close to the former actress tried to walk back the comment after the article was published.
Sources close to the future King of England say that he loves his two sons and would be sad if things cannot be fixed with Prince Harry. Observers say that Markle and her husband have no incentives to stop talking; it is quite the opposite.
That is why The Queen was right to keep them as far as possible. Their first meeting in years only lasted 15 minutes. While The Monarch spent some time with her great-grandchildren — Archie and Lilibet, she made sure that no picture was taken to document the moment.
Queen Elizabeth also reduced the Sussexes’ role during her Platinum Jubilee in June. Additionally, during a Thanksgiving service, the renegade royals were seated at a certain distance from the other royals.
Other royals like Prince William and Kate Middleton also followed Queen Elizabeth’s unofficial rule by keeping their distance from the Sussexes during the Jubilee.
Her Majesty will probably not meet with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle when they visit England next month. The Monarch has not given an inch to the couple, so they will have to feed Netflix, Spotify, and Penguin Random House on their own.
