Now that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have confirmed their decision for King Charles III‘s Coronation, Buckingham Palace is moving full speed ahead with the sticking points for the event.

For several weeks, Camilla, Queen Consort, has been weighing her options on who to pick to play the most sacred role at her crowning.

She has also been going through the massive collection of royal jewelry and tiaras at her disposal to pick the most extraordinary pieces for the momentous event.

King Charles’s wife bowed to pressure and declined to wear the controversial Koh-i-Noor diamond. The humongous diamond is tied to slavery and colonialism.

The Queen Consort has opted to wear Queen Mary‘s crown to avoid ruffling the feathers of those who say the monarchy was built on the backs of slaves and it costs the English taxpayers too much money to maintain.

Reports surfaced claiming that Camilla, Queen Consort, has taken steps not to anger her stepson, Prince William, an elephant lover, despite his passion for hunting wild birds in England’s lavish forests.

Not to irk, Prince William, Camilla, Queen Consort, was leaning towards not using the controversial scepter that is made of ivory.

Via Express and Private Eye, it was revealed: “The ivory scepter, which has been used by every Queen Consort since 1685, will be conspicuous in its absence. The publication also claims that the veto on the scepter came from the “elephant-loving” William, a fierce critic of the ivory trade.”

Some reports suggested that Prince William had vetoed the use of the specter at the event. For many years, Prince William teamed up with United for Wildlife to actively campaign for the end of the illegal trafficking of animal parts, like rhino horn and elephant ivory.

Talking to primatologist Dr. Jane Goodall, Prince William said he would “like to see all the ivory owned by Buckingham Palace destroyed.”

Prince William was delighted when his country signed the Ivory Act in 2018, which requires a “near-total ban on the dealing of items containing elephant ivory.”

Despite Prince William’s veto and fight to protect wildlife, Queen Camilla has decided that she will use an ivory scepter during the May 6th Coronation ceremony.

Buckingham Palace issued a statement confirming that King Charles’s wife would have her way and Prince William’s feelings would be ignored.

A spokeswoman said: “As with any historical collection of its size, it is to be expected that the Royal Collection includes items that contain ivory as this reflected the taste at the time.”

Queen Camilla often gets her way.
