An officer from the US Border Patrol in Texas has managed to become a social media sensation, with many people calling her “ICE Bae” and frequently interacting with her social media profiles. She was identified as Kiara Cervantes.
The woman gained a lot of attention after getting noticed by many right-leaning voices on social media, which immediately drew large crowds to her profiles.
Many even started joking that they would gladly let themselves get detained by the woman, and making various posts in a similar tone.
Cervantes, 26, became an Internet sensation after providing personal security for Vice President Mike Pence when he made a visit to the border last week. ICE Bae was then captured on camera guarding outside a holding cell.
She first identified herself on Twitter, with various reports indicating that the account is genuine.
The woman is originally from Texas and is a registered Democrat, though some have pointed out that her apparent Latina roots have made her even more attractive in the eye of social media fans.

In the meantime, not everyone seems happy with the attention she has been getting. Some have pointed out that the woman is drawing attention away from the issues immigrants are currently dealing with.
Other critics went as far as to speculate that the woman’s popularity on social media could be a ploy to distract from the issues at the border and draw some positive attention to the immigration authorities.
However, those opinions do not seem to be echoed too much right now, and most people are simply enjoying the show for what it is worth.

But, Cervantes wants people to know there is more nuance to her than just being ICE Bae. She says that she wants to inspire young women and is open to expanding her 15 minutes of fame.
After someone called her “Latina concentration camp guard,” she replied: “I can’t agree with concentration camps. But… this station in particular isn’t meant to be a holding facility hence the overpopulation of aliens. We are doing our best but some people won’t ever understand. They don’t know the daily of what my job consists of.”
And when another person suggested that her family is probably ashamed of what she is doing as an individual of Hispanic heritage.
She hit back with: “I think that’s really rude and naive of you to say. You have no idea who my parents are and no idea what goes into my job on a daily basis… before speaking on something you know nothing about…. DONT. Regardless I’m blessed and thankful for the career I have.”
After promising more interactions with the media, Cervantes says she needs to talk to her bosses. Will they appreciate all the attention that she is getting?
