Recent reports reveal that Ahmed Hirsi found out about the alleged affair of his then-wife, Minnesota Representative Ilhan Omar when he caught her with her supposed lover last spring.
Back then, the now-former spouse of the congresswoman decided to surprise his wife and visit her at her apartment in Washington, DC.
However, upon arriving at the place, Hirsi reportedly encountered his partner in the company of another man, who turned out to be chief fundraiser for Omar’s political campaign, Tim Mynett.
Even though the two alleged lovers were not engaged in sexual activities when Hirsi came into the apartment, it was clear that he found his wife in a compromising position, as Hirsi and Mynett were reportedly dressed in their pajamas only.
The couple had been living separately for some time, because Hirsi stayed back in Minnesota to take care of their three children, while Omar was pursuing her political career in Washington and she reportedly did not want her husband to move in. Hirsi had been suspicious of the alleged cheating, but his wife kept telling him that he was just paranoid.
An insider told the Daily Mail: “He suspected she was cheating but she kept telling him he was paranoid. He told her he wanted to move down to D.C. to be with her but she insisted he should stay in Minneapolis with the children. Eventually, he surprised her down there and his worst fears were confirmed. It wasn’t that he actually caught them in bed but they were clearly in a romantic situation.”
Following what happened, both Omar and her alleged lover, who was also married at the time, divorced their spouses and reached financial settlements that would reportedly prevent the distraught spouses from ever talking publicly about the ruined marriages.
The congresswoman’s divorce was finalized in November, and her former husband stayed single for only 37 days before moving on with his second marriage to another Muslim woman.
Meanwhile, Mynett’s marriage to his wife Beth was also officially over in December, and the newly-single man was seen clapping his hands with joy upon leaving the courthouse.
A smear campaign is still going on social media about Omar and Hirsi being siblings and the congresswoman supposedly married her brother for him to gain legal status.
The allegations have never been proven.
