It seems that Prince Harry, his wife, Meghan Markle, and his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, are set to receive some rather unpleasant news from Prince Charles, who is determined to shake up everything.
Close friends of the heir to the throne have confirmed that he has some radical plans brewing in his brain for the British monarchy when he gets the opportunity to sit on the throne.
Charles, Prince of Wales, who has said in the past that Buckingham Palace’s famous balcony would collapse because there are too many members of the royal family standing on it, will dramatically reduce the size of the monarchy and cut down on spending.
To achieve that goal, he is going make many members of his family angry. He came up with the idea of tuning Queen Elizabeth’s beloved Buckingham Place into a museum.
A royal source spoke to the Daily Mail and gave a few details about Prince Charle’s plan: “The talk is of opening a museum paying tribute to the Queen.”
Upon discovering the plan, Queen Elizabeth made it known that she disapproved. A royal expert explained that Her Majesty is frustrated by the concept because the place is the home where she and her late husband raised their children.
Royal commentator Neil Sean spoke to The Mirror and had this to say about the Queen’s state of mind: “She’s not very keen on that particular idea and believes, of course, that it should remain a family home of sorts. Her Majesty the Queen will go between Windsor Castle, which she considers her main London base, and spending two to four days a week also out at the re-renovated Buckingham Palace. So for now, whatever you’re reading, it doesn’t look like Prince Charles is going to be getting his own way anytime soon.”
Buckingham Place, which boasts of 775 rooms, was first used in 1837 by Queen Victoria, as her living quarters and all other British rulers followed in her footsteps.
Prince Charles also had some bad news for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. It was decided that when the Prince of Wales ascends the throne, he would gift Clarence House to Prince Harry and his daughter-in-law, but their decision to step down from their royal duties and move to California changed everything.
The property will now go to Prince George or one of his siblings when they get older. The Duke of Cornwall was given the home after his grandmother Queen Mother died in 2002.
The royal insider revealed to the British publication: “The Sussexes’ departure to California means Clarence House is now no longer on the cards. It is now more likely to be saved for Prince George, Princess Charlotte, or Prince Louis.”
The source, who is a friend of Prince Charles, explained the logic behind his decision to reduce spending and open these royal spaces to the public: “The Prince of Wales strongly believes that these places have got to deliver something for the public beyond just being somewhere for members of the royal family to live. Everything is seen through the lens of the question: ‘What value is this offering to the public? Everybody recognizes it makes no sense to run so many residences, but if you give them up entirely, you will never get them back when Prince George and the younger royals grow up and need somewhere to live.”
Prince Charles’s master plan to economize and protect the monarchy will affect all royal family members, and he knows it will be hard to make them accept these drastic changes.
