A new book is naming names, and it revealed that Prince Charles is the senior member of the royal family who made comments about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s children’s skin color before they were born.
According to the newly leaked chapters, Prince William was frustrated by the remark but did not view it as racist.
Prince Charles swiftly addresses the new claim that he questioned the complexion of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s unborn babies
The royal family has a policy of staying quiet in the face of rumors and speculation.
However, in a rare move, the future king of England, who is facing racist accusations, has issued a statement to restore his name.
Hours after New York Times best-selling author Christopher Andersen‘s bombshell claim was revealed to the world, Prince Charles shared a brief but firm statement denying it.
The heir apparent to the British throne said the report is made up and will not discuss it further.
Queen Elizabeth II‘s oldest son said via his spokesperson: “This is fiction and not worth further comment.”
Author names Prince Charles as royal who privately asked Camilla Parker-Bowles about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s children’s skin color
Christopher Andersen’s new book, Brothers And Wives: Inside The Private Lives of William, Kate, Harry, and Meghan, will be published on November 30.
Several jaw-dropping excerpts from the book have been published by Page Six. The author made the damaging revelation that Charles, Prince of Wales, was heard during a private conversation with his wife, Camilla Parker-Bowles, on the day his youngest son announced his engagement to the public.
Walking in the palace, the Duke of Cornwall turned to his spouse and asked a few disturbing questions about Markle and Prince Harry’s future children.
According to the book, Prince Charles asked: “I wonder what the children look like?” A “somewhat taken-aback” Parker-Bowles responded by saying: “Well, absolutely gorgeous, I’m certain.”
Prince Charles, aware his line of questioning was controversial and inappropriate, decided to lower his voice and asked: “I mean, what do you think their children’s complexion might be?”
Prince Charles was confronted by Prince Harry over racist remark
The author revealed that an angry Prince Harry confronted his father over the speculation about the skin tone of his future offspring.
Prince Charles did not deny the claims and instead told Prince Harry to stop being “overly sensitive about the matter.”
The book also claimed that Prince William was not pleased with the comments made by his father and called them tactless.
However, he later said that Prince Charles’s words were “not a sign of racism within the family.”
Prince William was asked about the accusations, and he told reporters: “We are very much not a racist family.”
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle told Oprah Winfrey a royal was worried about Archie having dark skin
In April of this year, Prince Harry and the former American actress sat down with Oprah Winfrey, where they spoke about the skin tone drama for the first time.
The allegations came up while Meghan Markle was talking about the reason why her son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor was not a prince.
Markle confessed: “In those months when I was pregnant, all around this same time—so we have in tandem the conversation of ‘He won’t be given security, he’s not going to be given a title,’—and also concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he’s born. There were, there were several conversations about it.”
Asked why she would not identify the royal family member, Meghan Markle said: “I think that would be very damaging to them. That was relayed to me from Harry. Those were conversations that the family had with him.”
Prince Harry later added: “It was a conversation I’m never going to share.”
A few days later, Oprah said that Prince Harry removed Prince Phillip and Queen Elizabeth from the scandal.
She said: “It was not his grandmother nor his grandfather that were a part of those conversations.”
It will be interesting to see if Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will address the issue again.
