Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, happily brought their two children to London in early June to see Queen Elizabeth II and participate in the Platinum Jubilee.
It was Queen Elizabeth’s first time meeting her great-granddaughter, Lilibet, and an opportunity to bond with her great-grandson, Archie.
However, a royal source, who spoke to The Sun, claimed that Prince Harry and Markle’s plans with the aging Monarch did not go as intended.
The person familiar with the situation, who talked to the media outlet, revealed that Prince Harry and his family were given 15 short minutes to meet Her Majesty on June 2.
The aging Sovereign was surrounded by her aides who ensured the meeting was formal and brief. Buckingham Palace aides kept a close eye on the Queen and paid attention to what was said.
The royal source explained to the publication: “It was a quick in and out job. It was all quite formal.”
Many saw the short time allocated to Prince Harry and Markle as a snub. A source close to Prince Harry and Markle confirmed to Page Six that Queen Elizabeth was not well that day, so they could not spend much time with her.
The same person also revealed that Prince Harry and Markle did not bother asking for a picture of the precious family moment because of the Queen’s health issues.
That day, a spokesperson for the royal family issued a statement revealing that Her Majesty was suffering from mobility issues and discomfort and was pulled out from a Jubilee event.
Queen Elizabeth was set to join Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for a thanksgiving service for the Platinum Jubilee at St Paul’s Cathedral but stayed at Winsor Castle to recuperate.
The statement that was released at the time read: “The Queen greatly enjoyed today’s Birthday Parade and Flypast but did experience some discomfort. Taking into account the journey and activity required to participate in tomorrow’s National Service of Thanksgiving at St. Paul’s Cathedral, Her Majesty, with great reluctance, has concluded that she will not attend.”
Prince Harry and Markle made a low-key appearance at the jubilee festivities and did not mingle with the rest of the royal family.
It is believed that Markle and Prince Harry did not have any private time with Prince William and Kate Middleton.
Prince William and his children did not meet Lilibet. The couple and their children flew back to California last Sunday before the Jubilee celebrations had finished.
Prince William, and his family, who were central to the celebrations, have since made plans to move to Winsor to be closer to Queen Elizabeth.
As for Prince Harry, he has been seen having a great time while playing polo in California. The former soldier is writing a tell-all book due out later this year.
