Readers and the royal family should brace for Prince Harry‘s upcoming tell-all book because he seems to have some surprises in store.
The former soldier, who was paid about $20 million for the bombshell memoir, was supposed to publish it by the end of the year.
However, recently, the publishing company started playing a game of hide-and-seek with the release date.
It was long believed that the explosive memoir penned by Meghan Markle‘s husband would be released to the public in late fall or early winter 2022.
However, the publishing house has revealed all the books due out later this year, and Prince Harry’s project is not featured on the list.
When reporters reached out to the company, they decided to play coy. An expert in the business recently did an interview and explained why Prince Harry keeps delaying the book.
Talking to Express, Rutger Bruining, CEO of biography writing company StoryTerrace, said that he believes that Prince Harry has some big revelations in the book that he might be struggling with and, therefore, might be willing to push the release date.
He went on to say that Prince Harry might have some regrets that some of the things in the book or the way they are phrased are too harsh and might hurt some people, and he is forced to remove certain passages or polish them.
He said: “People sometimes struggle to finalize things. In the process itself, initially, people are quite liberated, and they try to put everything into a book and be as honest as they can. But then they start thinking about the impact that they have on others. We’ve experienced it with our clients where when they see the first draft, they suddenly feel it comes across too harshly, and they start to think about how it will impact others.”
He also shared: “But we don’t really know all the other things around it in the family. Around a topic like that, people’s sensitivities are, of course, heightened.”
Bruining predicted that Prince Harry would use many pages to talk about the event that impacted his life the most — the death of his mother, Princess Diana.
He said: “There will likely be struggles he would have liked to share before but haven’t been in the public eye. Turning points are always really important in people’s memoirs. The death of his mother is a turning point. It’s something that, on the one hand, he can be quite open about because he’s been already quite open about things like mental health and the impact that has had on him.”
He also claimed that the book would give Prince Harry the opportunity to go deeper into his feeling while addressing some sensitive family issues.
Bruining stated: “The book will likely go into more detail on this. You can’t describe every event, and how you felt about it in interviews like you can with a book because there, you just have so much more time to do that. We’ll see a deeper side of him than what we’re used to.”
He added that Prince Harry would be challenged on his revelations, and his facts would be scrutinized, but in the end, he would tell the world he spoke his truth.
He concluded: “While the book may be stressful right now when it’s out, he will be confident that it reflects his truth. He will be happy to let his version out, and people can respond to it.”
The release of the book could get messy for the British royal family.
