Not many saw this reunion coming, Prince Harry and his brother, Prince William, and their respective spouses — Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton — got back together.
On Saturday, hundreds of fans and royal backers mourning the death of Queen Elizabeth II gathered in front of her Windsor estate to pay their respects, drop flowers, and leave touching messages of condolences.
Many were pleasantly surprised when the Princess and Prince of Wales, Prince Harry, and Markle, dressed in black, stepped out of the same vehicle.
The quartet took part in a royal walkabout that lasted about 40 minutes, where they greeted mourners and well-wishers gathered at Windsor Castle.
Prince Harry and Prince William could be seen having light conversations as they mingled with royal fans.
Middleton and Markle were not seen interacting. Instead, they focused on several young children and teenagers who were present and wanted to talk about her late Majesty and her legacy.
After the show of unity, the foursome got back in a car driven by Prince William and returned to their homes at Windsor.
The reunion was not planned according to reliable sources who spoke to The Daily Mail.
Prince William got a phone call from King Charles, who demanded that he sort things out with his brother during the 14-day mourning period.
Royal aides told the media outlet that Prince William was quick to call Prince Harry and Markle and invite them to the royal walkabout, and they accepted.
There was not much hope the brothers would unite, especially after the way Prince Harry was excluded by Prince William as he tried to fly to Scotland to see Her Majesty as she was dying.
It was also claimed that before The Queen died, Prince William and his wife were determined to stay away from Prince Harry because of his bombshell book.
Royal expert and professor Pauline MacLaran said it would “make sense for the future King and Queen of England not to meet up privately with the Sussexes over the next few months.”
Professor MacLaran, who also co-authored the book Royal Fever: The British Monarchy in Consumer Culture, told Express: “It is generally believed that Harry and Meghan are unlikely to meet with William and Kate or that there is unlikely to be any type of rapprochement until the latter see what is in Harry’s book.”
She added that Prince William was afraid of the possibility of their interactions and conversations appearing in the tell-all.
She shared: “This makes sense because they will definitely be afraid that the contents of any meeting will immediately be made public or twisted in some way. I imagine that if they see that Harry is discrete in his memoirs, trust can begin to develop again.”
While Markle has put her podcast and other interviews on hold, Prince Harry has not announced any changes to the date of the publication of the book.
Many see the move as a clever way for Prince William to say that the fear rumor was just that.
Or maybe he is hinting that he is not afraid of what will be said in the book. Others believe that it is the beginning of the reconciliation process.
