A long list of negative stories of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were leaked to the media.
However, this week, the world discovered that more unflattering revelations would have been made if Prince William did not intervene.
The story about Prince William’s decision to protect the two households surfaced the same day the first episode of a BBC documentary entitled The Princes, And The Press aired.
The program that has angered Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles is focused on Prince William and Prince Harry’s relationship with news outlets.
The royals are furious because they were not allowed to view the show before it aired and were not allowed to respond to the claims.
It has been revealed via The Sun that the heir to the throne took the drastic measure of banning all his staff members and aides from briefing the media.
Prince William did not want the uncomfortable moments and fighting that were taking place between himself, the Sussex clan, and Kate Middleton to be exposed.
Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, took the decision for multiple reasons.
No matter what was happening behind closed doors between Kate Middleton, Meghan Markle, Prince Harry — Prince William was determined to maintain a united front in public.
Like his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, Prince William believes that family affairs, good or bad, should be dealt with in private.
He was old enough to watch the royal aides working for his parents, Prince Charles and Princess Diana, contribute to hurt their already toxic relationship by constantly sharing humiliating information to the press.
Additionally, the future king of England knew while he was immune to the nasty tales and leaks to the media, Prince Harry did not have an enough thick skin to handle what was being printed about him.
A royal source told the Sun: “William was clear from the start that we were never to brief and never to say anything about anyone in the other households. He’d lived through that in the ’90s with his parents during the ‘War of the Waleses’ and doesn’t ever want it happening again.”
The royal insider went on to talk about how Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex‘s relationship with the press differs from Prince William: “He’s in a much better place [with the press] than his brother and the things that would bother him don’t. Harry will hopefully get there too.”
The source went on to make this shocking claim: “There was real hope Harry could bury his demons with the help from his brother, but it didn’t work.”
The first installment of the program focused on the events that took place between 2012 up to the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in 2018.
It dealt with the “rift” between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge that eventually led to the pair moving out.
According to the documentary, humiliating stories about Meghan Markle’s bullying and rude behavior towards her staff after marrying Prince Harry were leaked to the media by the other household.
Author Omid Scobie, who has written about Markle and Prince Harry, appeared in the documentary and had this to say: “There has been a lot of rumors for some time that a lot of the most damaging and negative stories about Harry and Meghan, that have ended up in the pages of the press, have come from the other royal households or from other royal aides or courtiers. From my own experience, that is true.”
However, Peter Hunt, former BBC royal correspondent, who disagreed, explained: “That did not happen the chunk of the time I was doing the royal family. You have to assume that they would have only done it if they had the approval of their principle (royal family member).”
Episode 2 of the series will tackle 2018 to 2021 and the royal tours of the Sussexes and the Cambridges.
