King Charles III is either setting expectations low or is about to deal a major and public blow to his youngest grandson, Archie.
A recent report revealed that Prince Harry confirmed that he would attend the coronation ceremony over a month ago.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry decided to keep the decision private because they were negotiating some form of recognition for their children, Archie and Lilibet.
King Charles picked Archie’s birthday — May 6th — for his and Queen Consort Camilla‘s crowning ceremony.
His Majesty has refused to have Archie and Lilibet participate or even be invited to the event.
After weeks of a game of ping pong between London and Montecito, King Charles opted to toss Prince Harry a bone by accepting to toast Archie at the family gathering after the crowning.
However, it now appears that King Charles will walk back his promise to show respect and give recognition to Archie because neither Prince Harry nor Markle will be present after the lavish Westminster Abbey event.
A source told the Mail on Sunday: “The King considered a toast to Archie. But with no member of the Sussex family now due at the lunch, it is highly unlikely he would do in their absence.”
Ingrid Seward, royal expert and editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine, recently shared her thoughts on Archie not being at the coronation.
While King Charles failed to invite Archie and Lilibet to the event, the royal biographer blamed Prince Harry and Markle for denying their children “a look at the ceremony.”
She revealed in The Daily Mirror: “I suspect Meghan was the driving force in persuading Harry to attend. She is smarter than him and would have realized it might mean the end of their future dreams if he didn’t appear. However pathetic when you have a team of helpers, Meghan can still use the excuse of Archie’s 4th birthday to avoid crossing the Atlantic to be ridiculed by both the royal family and the Brits. Why should she bother? For a girl who makes a huge fuss about which table she has in a restaurant, it would be a terrible insult not to have one of the top seats at the coronation ceremony. To add to this possibility, the disgrace of being excluded from the Buckingham Palace balcony line-up was more than she could bear.”
She concluded that Archie was the biggest loser in this scenario.
She claimed: “Now Meghan can play the martyr if she pleases. Certainly, the rest of Harry’s family, especially Kate, and William, will be delighted she is not there. King Charles and Queen Camilla will also be mighty relieved. The real loser is little Archie. How exciting it would have been to see the soldiers, carriages, and horses of his grandfather’s armies. What a shame he was denied the opportunity, however hard for his parents.”
The two sides are not ready to make major concessions.
