Social media influencer and former golfer Paige Spiranac has defended Tiger Woods after a new documentary about his life was aired last Sunday night.
27-year-old Spiranac, who played golf professionally for four years before retiring from the game in 2016, believes that golfer Tiger Woods was treated unfairly when he cheated on his then-wife, Elin Nordegren, in 2009 and lost multiple sponsors as a result.
Woods made headline news and suffered a tarnished reputation when it was revealed more than a decade ago that he had a minimum of twelve mistresses, including nightclub owner Rachel Uchitel.
It led to the divorce of Woods and Nordegren, who share two children together — Charlie Axel Woods and Sam Alexis Woods.
Following the scandal, Woods lost out on games and sponsorships, negatively impacting his career — which Paige Spiranac believes was wrong.
She spoke about Tiger Woods on her podcast, where she shared her views with listeners and told them he should not be “canceled” because nobody “lives a perfect life” and everybody “makes mistakes.”
Spiranac also added that people have made Woods out “to be a monster,” but that observers do not know what people are going through in their lives and should try to help them rather than promoting “cancel culture.”
The pro-golfer tuned model explained: “It’s not like he killed someone; he cheated. A lot of people cheat in their lifetime. Probably 99.9 percent of people have done something bad in their life. It’s not for people to sit on their couch and make him out to be a monster when I don’t think anyone could have handled that any better than he has.”
She continued: “Let’s get rid of cancel culture and help these people because you don’t know what they are going through. I don’t think any of us could handle that spotlight; it’s insane.”
She referred to Woods’s childhood, where he would witness his own father, Earl Woods, having sex with women in an RV during golf practice.
Spiranac also shared: “Of course, he is going to have issues growing up in that environment, the fame he had, he’s always been in the spotlight. He’s never had a normal life.”
According to family friend Joe Grohman, Woods spent a lot of time in the spotlight and did not have “a normal life.”
In 2006, Tiger Woods’s father passed away — an event that affected the athlete’s life.
He would spend days in Las Vegas partying with other celebrities, including Charles Barkley and Michael Jordan.
The new documentary, Tiger, tells the story of Woods’s life, scandals, and successes.
