Jennifer Garner could not attend Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez‘s lavish wedding, but she was one the happiest people on earth when the ceremony took place.
Earlier this month, the wedding 20 years in the making finally took place in Georgia. It was an all-white affair attended by more than 130 guests, with Affleck and Lopez’s five children playing the center roles.
Affleck’s ex-wife and the mother of his children was several thousands of miles away and did not attend. It is unclear if she declined the invitation to the event, or maybe she was never invited.
However, a source close to the actress spoke to Page Six and explained that she is happy to get rid of Affleck because she viewed him as her fourth child because of his bad habits and vices.
Affleck entered rehab for issues related to gambling and alcohol. The insider claimed that she is happy that he is now someone else’s situation and problem to handle.
The family friend told the New York media outlet: “Jen has always approached things the same, no matter who Ben has been with. They have kids together — so if he has another episode or falls off the wagon, it would be her problem.”
The source, who is acquainted with both Garner and Affleck, said that she is thrilled not having a fourth child to supervise and added: “Jen is a great mother. She has really mothered those kids — and it’s great that she doesn’t have to have a fourth child anymore.”
The insider claimed that Garner had hoped that the marriage lasted, but they have been divorced for years, and she has happily moved on with her life and is still dating businessman John Miller.
The source shared: “Jen grew up with her parents happily married, and her sisters are married, so I know that she wanted it to work out. But she’s moved on.”
Not many will be surprised by Garner’s harsh assessments of the situation because it was not that long ago that her ex-husband threw her under the bus.
In December 2021, Affleck appeared on Howard Stern‘s show, where he dropped the bombshell confession that he would still, be drinking had he remained married to Garner.
At the time, a friend of Garner said that she was furious and continued: “Anyone who knows addict behavior knows how untrue those comments could be for any addict, but particularly Ben. It’s one of the first tenets of AA not to place blame for your disease.”
The exes are good at co-parenting.
