Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, assumed they could break the rules, rattle the British monarchy and receive applause and awards.
However, King Charles III is making sure that Prince Harry is learning that his inappropriate actions and revengeful words have consequences.
The power couple lined up the interviews after “Megxit” and dropped one bombshell after another. These moves frustrated King Charles and the rest of the Royal Family.
Prince Harry and Markle continued with the carnage by announcing a tell-all memoir, Spare, and a Netflix series about their love story.
These announcements were the last straw for the new King, who decided to wave his wand of punishment.
King Charles is putting his foot down and has revealed that he does not wish Prince Harry and his disgraced brother, Prince Andrew, to stand for him if he is ever unwell or abroad.
It has been confirmed that Buckingham Palace explicitly told the Government that if King Charles is on foreign soil or is severely ill and cannot perform his duties, no non-working members of the Royal Family can take his place.
Meaning Prince Harry and Andrew, who are no longer working members of the Royal Family, are out.
Instead, working members of the British royal family, including Prince William and newly-added Counsellors of the State, Princess Anne and Prince Edward, can step in for the King if need be.
Discussing a new Bill, the Lord Privy Seal told Parliament’s upper house: “The functions Counsellors of State undertake can include, for example, indicating assent to legislation, formally approving appointments, and providing authority for the affixing of the Great Seal to documents, such as royal proclamations. The role can also include convening Privy Council meetings where necessary. The Bill represents a practical solution and safeguards to ensure that the machinery of Government can continue.”
He repeated out loud the King’s decision: “The Royal Household has confirmed that, in practice, working members – I repeat that – of the Royal Family will be called upon to act as Counsellors of State and that diaries will be arranged to make this practicable.”
On his 74th birthday, King Charles announced that his siblings, Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex, and Anne, Princess Royal, had been added as Counsellors of State.
The Lord Privy Seal said: “They will undertake those roles for their lifetimes. By doing so, the Bill will provide greater resilience in our constitutional arrangements by widening the pool of Counsellors of State.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are still moving forward with their controversial projects.
