Shannon Moser, a 37-year-old middle school teacher in North Dakota, has entered guilty pleas on Monday afternoon.
At Cass County Court, Moser pleaded guilty to 6 counts of sexual crimes, including gross sexual imposition, sexual assault and luring a minor by computer.
Judge Douglas Herman, who raised Moser’s bail from $30,000 to $100,000, was surprised that she had not posted it yet.
That is when her attorney, Scott Brand, explained: “She’s most certainly sorry for her actions, and the reason she did not post bail is because she knew what she did was wrong. She knows there’s a debt she has to pay to society for what happened here, so she voluntarily chose to stay on her own will.”
Moser is waiting for a sentencing date to be set and she is facing anywhere between 5 years to life in prison.
The woman, who had allowed some students to call her “Kim Kardashian,” was accused of sharing explicit photos and videos with two boys on Snapchat and having sex with one of them. She went as far as sharing videos of she and her husband having sexual intercourse.
In June, authorities had received two tips about what the married mother of four was doing with a 16-year-old teen.
The boy initially denied that he had sex with Moser, but eventually admitted that it had happened once in June at Rendezvous Park outside of West Fargo.
The student also said that Moser, a family friend, had offered for them to have sex again but he turned down her offer.
On July 12, Moser resigned from her post at Liberty Middle School as she started to talk to authorities. Before all of these developments unfolded, many students had complained about Moser’s interactions with some students.
The school had asked her to make some changes, which she did, and her contract was expected to be renewed after the improvements, according to School District documents dated from April 26.
