David ‘Big Papi’ Ortiz’s Wife, Tiffany, Says He Left The ICU As Dominican Republic Authorities Try To Paint A Clearer Picture Of The Attack

David Ortiz Dominican Republic Update

After an attempted hit on David “Big Papi” Ortiz went wrong and left the baseball legend alive, much speculation started to surround the incident, with many trying to figure out what was going on and who was behind the attack.

Reports indicated that the attempted murder cost a little under $8,000, but questions remained regarding the exact origin of the attack and the motivation behind it.

New information suggests that Alberto Miguel Rodriguez Mota is responsible for funding the attack.

The man has not been apprehended by authorities yet. Rodriguez Mota is already known to law enforcement, as he was previously charged with drug trafficking.

The man was found in possession of serious amounts of cocaine and marijuana together with an accomplice.

However, a lot remains unknown about the botched hit. It is not clear what motivated the attack in the first place, and what involvement Rodriguez Mota had in the hit other than funding it.

There is strong speculation right now that the actual order came from someone else, and Rodriguez Mota was merely responsible for providing the funding necessary for the attack.

José Eduardo Ciprian, who is already in prison, reportedly played a part in the criminal venture.

Authorities have been hard at work investigating the incident, and they have already made around a dozen arrests in connection with the hit.

Officials in the Dominican Republic claim that Ortiz was not the main target of the attack, the alleged criminals were after Sixto David Fernandez, a friend of the famous athlete.

More information will likely come to the surface in the near future as the investigation continues to unfold.

There has been some speculation of a possible cover-up, although this seems to be the product of unfounded rumors more than anything else at the moment, so it is probably not a lead worth following.

Ortiz’s wife, Tiffany Ortiz, put out the following statement a few days ago: “We remain grateful to everyone who has helped David through this ordeal, both in the Dominican Republic and here in Boston. David’s journey to good health has been bolstered by the many expressions of love that have come to us from across the globe. Your support has lifted his spirits tremendously during this challenging time.”

She also shared this on Saturday and revealed that he is no longer in the intensive care unit at Massachusetts General Hospital: “He remains in good condition and continues to recover under the care of Drs. David King and Larry Ronan.”
