Meagan Good George Floyd Protest

Meagan Good has been very active and vocal since the horrible killing of George Floyd.

Floyd died in Minneapolis, Minnesota after Derek Chauvin, a former white police officer, knelt on his neck for nearly nine minutes as he pleaded for his life and said that he could not breathe.

Good took part in multiple protests where she delivered passionate speeches demanding the end of systemic racism and police brutality.

The Think Like a Man actress has been honest about her unique relationship with police — her father, Leondis “Leon” Good, is a LAPD police officer.

She penned this moving message: “It tells us that we’re at the bottom of the totem pole.
That’s a lie.
We are the most exotic beings on the planet.
What we have endured, survived, are destined for, inspired, influenced -is nothing short of extraordinary.
Some are lost in the fire.
We are built from it.
Don’t ever doubt yourself.
Every single inch of all that you are was created for such a time as this.
Own your God-given dreams.
The fullness of your identity.
Walk-in your light.
Remember, God sees you as His perfect creation.
The day we start seeing ourselves and our sisters the way God sees us- is the day that we win.
To all my sisters who challenged me. Thank you. I love you.”

The celebrity was applauded for her activism.

Good received this note from a follower: “Meagan, I love this statement of your journey and your beautiful self. I’ve seen how you treat others, and you are kindness personified, always lifting others up. May we all do the same?.”

A social media user told the star: “They are beautifully written! This is amazing and powerful on so many levels. I need to see, read, and hear this today!”

We are BLACK WOMEN! We build things .. We don't tear down other BLACK WOMEN!! We have felt the pain of being torn down.. I can’t remember the first time I was called a Ni$$er ..I was a child. I do however remember being called it countless times throughout elementary & junior high. I remember being 1 of 1 black families in my neighborhood. I remember not being able to step foot on one of my neighbors yard because of my blackness. I remember being told I don’t belong here. I remember being told outright I couldn’t play the lead in this or that because I’m black. I’ve worked my butt off. For over 30 years . And I still get paid less than my white counterparts that have been in the business half the time I have. I’ve had to fight for everything outside my box. I still have to prove myself. I don’t complain. I don’t have a chip. I recognize & honor those who have come before me & allowed me to believe in the endless possibilities set before me. I dream big, trust God & create. I focus my energy on making it easier for the little girl behind me. ..I think of every time I’ve boarded a plane & been challenged because they think maybe I am sitting in the wrong seat I worked hard for.. I think of every time I’ve been overlooked, counted out & not considered because of my skin. I think to myself. Nope. This generation will have every single thing the generation before me didn’t have & even more than I ever could’ve dreamed of for myself. I am a BLACK WOMAN. I am strong, enduring, brilliant, self aware, spiritually discerning, full of wisdom, obtaining knowledge, resourceful, resilient, beautiful, courageous, unpopular, perfectly imperfect in the most gorgeous way, graceful, gracious, unconditionally loving, a fierce protector, a mentor, a mentee of Queens ..a light ✨.. & I decided a long time ago that I will not compete with anyone-ever ..but instead love EVERYONE .. I decided I will be deliberate about uplifting others into their full potential & purpose! Far too often, us women find it easier to criticize each other instead of building each other up. Putting each other down will never lift us higher. The world pits us against each other enough. ??

Good also got a “thank you” note that read: “Whew, Chile, thank you for THIS!!! I have been a big fan of yours since Eve’s Bayou…An incredible talent… Hollywood can underestimate you….but they can’t stop how bright you shine. Thank you for using your platform.??”

Some have commended Good for trying to walk a fine line between her support for the Black Lives Matter movement and the fact that most police officers try to do their job in a decent fashion.

It is a difficult balance in these challenging times.
