In 2024, Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle is reportedly set to go through another major career change. One of her closest friends has confirmed that she has her eyes on the White House, despite what President Donald Trump might think of her.
Prince Harry‘s wife has been very vocal about her political views in her speeches. In a recent video, sitting side by side with Harry while delivering remarks for the Time 100 list, Meghan urged Americans to vote because “this is the most important election.”
Meghan weighed in on the upcoming U.S. presidential election by saying: “Every four years, we’re told, ‘This is the most important election of our lifetime.’ But this one is. When we vote, our values are put into action, and our voices are heard.”
The philanthropist went on to say: “Seeing our world through the lens of community is so important. Because we need to redraw the lines of how we engage with each other — both online and off.”
As for Harry, he pleaded with voters not to buy into the negativity online.
Hours after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex made the comments; Trump was asked an inaccurate question during a White House briefing.
The reporter asked the president: “Prince Harry and Meghan Markle chimed in on the U.S. election and essentially encouraged people to vote for Joe Biden. I wanted to get your reaction to that.”
Trump did not hold back and slammed Meghan by saying: “I’m not a fan of hers, and I would say this—and she probably has heard that—but, I wish a lot of luck to Harry because he’s going to need it.”
Hours later, a close friend told Vanity Fair that Meghan is serious about running for president in 2024.
The source shared: “One of the reasons she was so keen not to give up her American citizenship was so she had the option to go into politics.”
The insider also explained to the publication: “I think if Meghan and Harry ever gave up their titles, she would seriously consider running for president.”
A supporter said, why not: “At least she is educated, and calm ? Crazier things have happened…just look at us now.”
This neutral voice revealed the following on social media: “Really because she didn’t want anything to do with being a princess, so why would she want to have anything to do with being a politician?! The smear against her has started here in the U.S, I guess. Women, in general, are attacked for their ambitions like it’s a bad thing. This post seems like a pre-attack for her having an opinion on the election.”
Meghan was laughed at by this critic, who shared: “Omg if this happens, I will never not stop laughing. Not because I don’t like her but because it’d be just hilarious if this was her goal all along. Lol. She didn’t like being scrutinized as a princess; imagine how much crap she would have to take for running for POTUS???. And where would she run to after????.”
Some experts wonder if the Trump video criticizing Meghan did not play a role in pushing her to consider the idea of getting into politics faster.
In 2011, former President Barack Obama mocked Trump at the White House Correspondents Dinner, and many said that is when the businessman decided to run for president.
